Always Steve. I just dunno if Christoph would have taken it as calmly as me. :D

If he deserves it, he should have it. No veto here from me

I would probably not agree that he deserves it more than AD ;)

But I guess he will receive it anyways over AD, as a gift for his life long achievements for the NBA :rolleyes:o_O:mad:

Not surprised on the cancelling of games really. The world is in like some sort of upheaval with no solution in the short term. Am actually shocked it has come to this, when the world knew the virus had to be contained or else. This is the or else.

Wow. This makes it official

The Lakers vs Houston Rockets game scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2020 will not be played.

We anticipate having more information tomorrow and will share it as it is made available.

Per the NBA:
The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of Wednesday's schedule of games until further notice. The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.

Donovan Mitchell of the Jazz is the second NBA player to test positive.

Really sad.

Plus look at all of the players who Gobert and Mitchell were in contact beside their team mates. Plus the OKC game was canceled because one of the refs had officiated in a game involving the Utah Jazz a day earlier

This is how quickly the league collapsed and the season canceled

Right Steve, the Celtics is one of the teams now on self quarantine as they played the Jazz twice in the last 10 days.

Imo, the league should cancel the season outright and start again in November (if the situation is solved). This season should be in the 'null' category. The pandemic is costing lives and it is not worth it, not even worth a gold cup for a team to celebrate when people all over the world are dying. March Madness is cancelled, and so are other sports events in the world. This is for entertainment, not a necessity really. It is very hot here, near summer weather in Manila, and it was said the virus cannot thrive in hot weather, but our metro city just saw a spike from 2 in January and 4 in Febuary to 60+ cases, mostly by travel and some by community contact. It's growing in hot weather and summer in the north hemisphere is not a guarantee that the virus will go away. This is a different mutation.

I was wondering, if the season is cancelled, what happens to AD 's status, free agent? Will he stay on with the Lakers?

It's difficult to think that the league can just gear up after 30 days and resume play. All teams should be healthy from previous injuries due to the rest but COVID-19 could stIll end the season.

The take away for me was the comment about the Lakers and LeBron.....that this season will likely be his best and final shot at an MVP award or league championship

Agree Steve. And what about the fans in the arena, we're talking of 10,000 or more people packed inside where a lot of touching can go on, with food stands, snacks, etc. 1 infected person can wreak much havoc as we all know. There needs to be a clean bill of health for players, fans, and stadiums employees, and 30 days might not be enough if we look at the numbers of new cases coming in each day. And what happens if play resumes after 30 days and another positive test comes out 10 days after? Close shop again. It's gonna be very tough to get around this. No other way but to write this season off the books. Health is more important than trophies or records.
