Christophe informed me via e-mail that this machine can be ordered to play at 30ips!

He is also working on a transport-only version for use with outboard tape pre-amplifiers.

Any idea whether other tape widths (1/2"?) will be available?

No, I don't. I did not discuss that with him.

According to their website, the price is 10K euros plus about 400 euros shipping. The price certainly looks very attractive, even for a playback only machine. Looks very interesting. In comparison the new Metaxas machine (record and playback) is $36K.

For modern tape machine. Metaxas is out-classed by Balfinger in every category. Old Studer still rules imo.

for what its worth, Revox is selling the A77/B77 again. Not a lot of marketing for it, but the importer told me he has a couple in stock.

Thanks, Ron. Congratulations Christophe, it's great to have another new production tape machine available, especially a more affordable option.

Ron, any mention of a US service and support center?

80 miles Southwest of Chicago,
I know Christophe from the time we spent together working with RTM tape. A great guy and I have told him that I would be happy to help him set tech support in North America when and if he starts selling his machines here. I know most of the great tech's across the country.

Hat's off to anyone with the skill and dedication to do this! Modern computer electronics greatly simplifies the transport control but the mechanical design and manufacturing to make a quality transport still needs to be first rate for a reel to reel.
