I am a retired mining engineer that worked underground for almost 40 years. I built my first speakers when I was 16. I think it is fair to say that speaker design and passive crossover development is where my passion lies. I have had some nice speakers. Klipschorns, Heresys, Altec Model 19, JBL 100s, AR3, Bozak 302 and about 50 pairs that I built. Most people that know me will complain that I only talk about speakers and fishing. I have spent a lot of time at the Parts Express forum and Diy Audio. I came here to meet some new people and hear some new opinions. I hope that I can add something to the mix. Howard Stever

Welcome! Very interesting, and many of us who listen but are not technical enjoy reading about some of the 'hows and whys' of audio design. Particularly when [some] of us are working on systems where we are putting pieces together (like subs)...where understanding different designs, the pros/cons can be helpful in providing a framework from which we can start to make decisions and start auditioning without having the audition 'the universe'.

Most of my Diy speakers are more conventional 2 way designs. I don't have the area to do large speaker projects. I have recently done some 3 ways and larger 2 ways with high frequency horns. The complexity of crossover design is very challenging. Building crossovers and getting them inside the box is almost as hard as designing them.

This is another one. I have 2 beer machines now :p:oops:
That is really funny Bill, I was looking at your beer tap before thinking well you wouldn’t just have one subwoofer, so why wouldn’t you go stereo on the kegs ... audiophiles, always with the continuous improvements. Perfectly natural move :D
