Bond has had it's day. Life was fun when the threat was Cold War (Connery), 70s excess (Moore), 80s pre-Berlin Wall fall (Dalton), 90s post-Berlin Wall (Brosnan) and 00s Britain's place in the world (Craig).

But now w the advent of #MeToo, Brexit, fake news, Green absolutism and identity politics, maybe the world can't be saved.

Bond, have the day off and go and die. You'll have the time.

Ack, you're joking? Every Bond fan, indeed every fan of film, should expel the abomination that was Spectre from their minds.

If this one is equally unimpressive and stuck in a rut, then that's 4 Bonds out of the last 6 that are substandard, and it's time for the franchise to end.

Bond can't hold a candle to Bourne, Cruise in MI, Keanu in John Wick and Kiefer in 24.

Noooooo, I don't want to see James died, ever. That franchise has to keep eternally going.
He's the number 007 spy who can save the world from all sources of evil.
Daniel Craig is the best, I'm glad he decided to stick for the next two, including this one.

Bourne is not on the same caliber; he doesn't visit beautiful locales and he doesn't drive nice cars and he doesn't hang around beautiful company and he doesn't drink martinis.

Tom Cruise is on a mission, the impossible type...more like sci-fi flicks with motorcycles and motorcycles. They are getting better, but not possible like James Bound.

Kiefer is injured right now and needs a rest ... a good one.

John Wick? Ya baby, I'm all in here...put him with James for a super duper duder action flick with the kitchen sink...Atomic Blonde.

24 season 5 is the bestest of them all. And then Bourne ultimatum in movies (though in the books Bourne identity is much better)

It's hard to pick up sarcasm on the 'net. I thrive by it :) Of course it's an abomination

Ack, I had really high hopes for DCraig. He came off the nadir of that last PBrosnan Bond (CGI surfing scene and invisible Aston, anyone?), and hit the ground running w Casino Royale. But he's been taken over by the other guys, and Britain's place in the world is looking shaky as Bond looks washed up.

Spectre was a real crock of $hit, made worse by the trailer promising so much more. Has anyone ever witnessed a more uneventful car "chase".

PS add Liam in Taken to the list of Bond pummelers.

Could Hollywood make a spook fest based on Operation Crossfire Hurricane And Operation Confidence? Where could you get a script that involves every western intelligence agency and the old Russian Ukrainian mob including the political opponents and political party hell bent on removing the leader of the free world.
But Bond would be a member of Hakluyt and possibly a bad guy...oh well it will never be made...sources and methods..you know

I guess this will be his last film as Bond

Marc. Have you ever read the books by Ian Fleming. I read them all one sumner while in Premeds. Spectre was the real deal.

Having said that I have to sadly agree with you. IMO all of the films with Craig as Bond have been not only terrible but virtually impossible to follow.

There was IMHO only one true Bond and that was Sean Connery.

I have read them, but some time ago. You may be right on Spectre. I just feel it was v poor cinema.

I'm afraid Bond is gonna struggle w the likes of the recent MI film (should have won Best Picture Oscar).

Additionally, its a struggle to see Britain's role in the world right now (US relying more on French intelligence) for Bond to represent anything other than a distraction.

Btw Steve, Fleming was horrified when Connery got the nod. Too working class, too macho, too SCOTTISH lol. But was won around.

Dr. No, From Russia and Goldfinger, not a wasted microsecond in these movies.

This film will be his 5th one as James Bond...No Time To Die

Then there's a sixth one for him after that ...
https://www.businessinsider.com/dan...-signed-up-for-2-more-james-bond-films-2017-8

1. Casino Royale (2006)
2. Quantum of Solace (2008)
3. Skyfall (2012)
4. Spectre (2015)
5. No Time to Die (April 2020)
6. _ _ _ _ _ _ (****)?

Also, the trailer near the end of June was called JAMES BOND 25: No Time To Die

There is nothing 100% certain.

Here’s my other caveat. After the death of Ian Fleming the Bond dynasty lives on with Cubby Broccoli. Many books have been written but once they made all of the Fleming books into movies everything else was fun to watch but it just wasn’t Janes Bond.

Each actor who played Bond has his own persona but for me the only Bond who could say with any degree of authority

“My name is Bond,James Bond

Or

“Shaken not stirred”

Or

To say Pussy Galore”

with a straight face was Sean Connery.

IIRC the first non Fleming book made into a movie was Octopussy

I’ve seen every one of them. Craig has potential but comes across as a hard nosed killer whereas Connery had the pizzaz. Those movie were indeed tongue in cheek with the only gizmos coming from Q Now there’s nothing but huge special effects and killing.

So my question is who will play Bond after Craig as this is his last

Steve, who really cares? And I say that sadly as a Bond afficionado.

+1 re Connery. I also actually really liked Timothy Dalton, he was taking the spirit of Connery and making it his own as close to Fleming as possible. And Casino Royale had real quality.

But since...?

Me I think with the cast of No Time To Die, plus the director, we'll have an excellent #25 Bond movie, and Daniel Craig will conquer his fear of people tiring of him, and sometime around 2022 he'll make his sixth and final Bond movie, possibly with the same film director, or if not there's Denis Villeneuve, Christopher Nolan, ...

Because we love movies, because Bond can never die. He's the number one secret intelligence service agent in the world. ...@ the service of her Majesty. ...With a licence to kill, and with extreme prejudice...just like in the movies. :)
