I don’t know if this flies in the face of common wisdom but after fiddling around with Ultra SS’ in both three & four per component configuration, I concluded the following:

Under my source component, (Melco N1A/2 streamer) my preference is 3 Ultra SS’ with cap UP. However, under my Amp (Vitus Audio RI), cap DOWN rendered a little more textural detail than cap up. In both instances, four Stillpoints did not show any advantage (to me, under my equipment).
I have also tried Ultra SS’ under my speakers in both orientation (Avalon Idea on 10mm wood floor bonded to solid concrete). My preference here is with supplied spikes resting on/in Track Audio feet.

It would be interesting to hear if others have experienced similar........or is it just me? :)

Hello
I've been listening Avalon Ideas with stillpoints too. I own Ultra 5, Ultra SS and minis. My floor is wood bonded to solid concrete too.
With the Ultra 5 under Avalons the sound is dead.
With the Ultra SS with hat I like it. Whit hat down the bass control and precision improves a lot. The sound is quicker and more precise (more spectacular) than with original Avalon cones. I've liked it more with hat upward (less hifi sound).
Finally, I come back to the Avalon cones with the antispikes Sound Anchors Conecoasters and it remains because is the most musical way to me.

Thanks for your feedback. Seems like we have come to the same conclusion.
Cheers
