About a year ago, I purchased a reel-to-reel tape deck. It was defective, and I got a refund. Then, I purchased an Akai GX-625 reel-to-reel tape deck. It was also defective. The right channel is fine, but the left channel is very weak. I tried to have it repaired, but it sat at the repair shop for 5 months. He said he was having trouble finding parts. He tried 2 different sources with no luck, so I am having him return the deck to me. I need to get it repaired for a project I have in mind for our magazine, Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity. Any help on this from our readers would be appreciated. My direct e-mail address is jej1234@comcast.net.

Suggest looking thru and/or posting this on tapeheads.net. They have a number of threads on Akai decks and certain repair resources. Good Luck.
