I was thinking that there are many products that never achieve rock star status. Over the years they just crank out a reliable reasonably priced quality audio product.
I. Vvsited the SALK room this year. I visited thier exhibition at CAF 2019. There was nothing spectacular
Just the usual good sound.
I lamented to them perhaps they would get more attention if they charged oitrageous prices. They laughed.
Have you had experiende with this speaker? what is your opinion?

Lo
Everything you need to know about Salk Sound World-class Sound
Since our inception, our goal has been to produce speakers utilizing the state-of-the-art speaker drivers coupled with precision crossover designs to insure their superior performance.
Eye Candy
A great speaker should not only move you sonically, it should also move you visually. Our standard finishes are just what you would expect in high-end furniture. And if it is a custom finish you are dreaming about, we place no limits on your creativity. We'll turn your vision into reality with the utmost in care and craftsmanship.

Built for You
Each of our speakers is custom built for a specific customer. In that regard, each pair of our speakers is unique in some fashion. And to the extent you wish to be involved, as we build them, you can follow the process step-by-step.
Direct From Us to You
We are your personal speaker builder. There are no dealers or middlemen involved in the process. So you save the typical dealer markup and pay about 1/2 of the cost of a similar performing retail speaker. How can you beat that?
How We Do It
Working together we achieve great results

Speaker Selection
With so many options available, it can be a bit intimidating. But don't worry. We'll work with you hand-in-hand to help you select the perfect speakers for your application.

Finish Selection
Again, since we do not limit your imagination, the options can be a bit overwhelming. But with a few simple questions, we'll be able to point you in the right direction. If it is a custom finish, we'll help you find just the look you are after.

We Build...You Enjoy
Once we're on the same page, we begin the building process. You can follow your speaker's progress on line in real time. And before you know it, you'll be listening to some of the finest speakers in the world!

Salk stood out at CAS also. At least for me, it did. I agree with your description: consistent good sound, nothing spectacular. And that was a lot more than I could say for 95% of the rooms at CAS this year despite most rooms costing far more than the Salk room.

I have never heard them, but they have a great rep, cabinets are gorgeous, and several folk who's opinions I respect enjoy theirs greatly. Jim is very approachable as well, and also makes a nice streamer that has gotten some good press.

The most interesting current model to me is the Exotica 3. 92dB with a sealed cabinet, SEAS tweeter/mid and powered servo woofers claiming to reach 20 Hz flat... for $13k? How do these sound, I would love to know.
