Thanks miniguy. Wow, the SME is now almost 30 years old. One does not read about many direct turntable comparisons. Most impressions are formed by hearing tables in different settings. I enjoyed reading this.

I've switched to an Airtight Opus which I am thoroughly enjoying! Upgraded my Koetsu to the Rhodonite Diamond... haven't mounted it yet.....

While of some interest, it's not really a fair comparison. EMT929 is a rather mediocre and sonically simple tonearm IMHO. After we replaced it with FR64s, the EMT930 went to antother level. But agreed, it is not a quiet machine.
