Something to cheer people up - look at what others have to do when they are stricken by a horrible disease, and we can't put up with each other

http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-27503660

we have yet to encounter a sick person with C. diff who has refused this treatment. It's a horrible disease.

It's an emerging, but not new treatment. Chinese medicine has recommended swallowing small doses of faecal matter for some ailments for 1,500 years.

I recall seeing articles on this about two years ago. The "good" bacteria in feces, usually from a spouse or family member is usually used since family members tend to share many bacterial strains.

In general, clindamycin is fine for a dose or two for premedication for a procedure if you are allergic to other antibiotics, but it is a good idea to avoid prolonged use of clindamycin which is a common cause of C diff overgrowth.

Okay, that has got to be the absolute weirdest news I have heard in a LONG time. Now, please excuse me while I take a shower.

He probably doesn't want it all over the net, but my son contracted C diff after his wisdom teeth were pulled, and that is the procedure that worked. Eighteen months of various other treatments did nothing for his condition.

By the way, Blue Cross considers it to be an experimental procedure, so getting them to pay was a trick. My wife is in the medical field, so she was able to directly convince the caseworker at Blue Cross to get it approved in my son's case. Still, it was almost impossible to get the proper code submitted for payment.

Some brand of Clindamycin was prescribed by the dentist who extracted the teeth. My son hates him, and called him a clueless quack. :D

If the procedure was to become popular, a new enforcement branch [similar to Homeland Security] would be ushered into existence by the medical/pharmaceutical cartels to curtail its use with extremely stiff penalties. Bend Over.

This is one medical procedure you can do at home with the help of a healthy spouse or family member if you were so inclined and not need insurance reimbursement. :D

I passed on that, but if the need ever arises at your house, you can let us know how it goes. In fact, a YouTube video might be the ticket. :D :D :D
