Interesting. Most of this stuff is substantially priced with manufacturers or distributors/retailers trying to appeal to well informed sensible consumers who have substantial disposable income. So why, in a priced mini-review of over 50 products, over 35% are priced using the deceitful $999 rule rather than the honest $1,000 approach. In particular, how can a really honourable manufacturer view their ATC SCM 50SE being sold at $64,999 rather than $65,000. Answer: "let's start by insulting the prospective purchaser's intelligence!

Were one thing found worthy of singling out here. It'd have to be Brian Moura's choice of the Sony Signature SA-Z1 Powered nearfield speakers for me. His self interest in such a device is obvious. Still it intrigues what potential Sony yet sees in DSD and how accurately it portrays sound.

I feel this offers the best view of how the amp is decoupled from the rest of the speaker body. Which is not obvious in many photos.
