With iOS 12, you now need to explicitly enable USB accessory access to your iphone, a backdoor that authorities used in the San Bernardino case, using the so-called GrayKey device. And it goes w/o saying that touchid must also be turned off.

This is obviously to prevent cops from accessing your phone in a traffic stop, to see if you are texting, emailing or otherwise.

Dear ack,

I am wary of upgrades as I usually do not care about the additional features and flexibility they offer. Are there any downsides to upgrading to iOS 12? Does it have any bugs?

I have 12.0.1, no issues that I have seen, but I am sure there are bugs, like every other release over the years.
