My setup guy came over and installed a 3D tonearm I got in yesterday. Surprisingly big upgrade in sound. Deeper, fuller bass, more detail, improved midrange. One of the best purchases I have made in analog. Making my humble Scoutmaster close in sound to a Prime Signature. Setup guy agreed. Going to be a great weekend!

Did you get the Fatboy? Is it the unipivot or the gimbal version?

The Fatboy is a very nice upgrade. VPI was running a tone arm trade in program last year (not sure if the program remains in place) that made this upgrade reasonably inexpensive. I did the upgrade for my VPI Avenger and I'm very happy with the results.

No, I did not. I don't believe they make one in a 9 inch version yet.

I can't speak to the fatboy upgrade but this 3D arm totally transformed the quality of playback I am getting. More more detail, better bass, mids, and highs. Very pricey but well worth it.

I will try the fatboy once I move up the line.
