Hello all, starting an official thread of Q&A or information about WestminsterLab audio cables. Many of the users here read Mono & Stereo and hence the idea of starting a thread here as there are more interest in the cable now =].

Thank you for starting the thread!

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Some fancy pictures from our recent show at Poland. Where we showcase the whole loom of WestminsterLab Ultra audio cables with our New Class A mono-block Rei, driven directly from the Lumin X1.

You will notice our cables are available in black and white. Is not just a colour difference but I will speak about this later in this thread. =]

Special thanks to our Poland Distributor Audio Atelier for organising such an amazing show.

WestminsterLab Technology Insight No.1

Vari-Twist

Most audio cables on the market has some sort of structure reassembling 2 or more conductors twisting together. With years of research, we conclude that it is one of the most important factor of audio cable design. The angle must be enough to reduce interference yet a big angle will generate a bigger capacitance. As the higher the capacitance, the speed of the electron will be reduced and so as the overall bandwidth of the cable.

These two factors need to be balanced. In our tests, it seems that a single angle can hardly balance these two, as a single angle gives a particular resonance to a particular frequency range. It may be good for a single frequency signal like digital. But it may not be good for multi-frequency wide-band analogue signals in which your music actually is. The ideal case is a cable twisted at a variable angle.

This very unconventional technology is called Vari-Twist. Vari-Twist, as how it names, the signal pair are twisted to our formulated varying angle throughout the whole cable. The relationships between the signal pairs keep changing to minimize the resonance with particular frequency yet interference and magnetic field are still minimized. And this is one of the reason all WesminsterLab cables in different lengths have their own bespoke structure, all calibrated to perform flawlessly across the audioband.

Vari-Twist is truly unique to WestminsterLab and it is the only cable you can buy on the market which features this unique approach to cable design and technology.
