Here are some behind the scenes video at CES 2010 showing setup of Wilson speakers by John Giolas and Peter McGrath of Wilson Audio. It also shows other manufacturers demoing their wares with Wilson speakers. What I found interesting was Vladimir Lamm's comments that he didn't like Wilson speakers until they were paired with Lamm electronics. It also shows the Lamm ML3's with Wilson MAXX3's

Steve, I visited both Lamm rooms several times as well, and both days I found Fremer in there particullary interested in the table/arm/cart playing. I had my Lamm by that time and honestly the room did not grab me that hard. I preferred the Ocean View, Acapella/Einstein and Halcro rooms better, but that is me ....

Have you heard the X2/ML3 together?

I recall that as the models shown in the large room Steve. Don't get me wrong, the sound was great and as I said returned there several times, and I pay great respect to both brands, mostly to Lamm.... But as I said, in those rooms, under show conditions, I liked at least three other rooms better.

Vladimir was using MAXX3's with the ML3

This year he is using X-2's with the ML3/LL1 Signature combo with a Studer R2R (essentially my system) with a digital and analog front end

If this is true, wonder why Dave Wilson uses Spectral?

I think that Dave values neutrality above everything else. To wit, years ago, Dave had a specially made Lyra Parnassus that was specifically made for him to be ruler flat from 20 Hz to 20 KHz. OTOH, I'm pretty sure that Dave has a few other amplifiers around in the shop. Now I might be wrong, but I don't remember Dave using over the years a lot of tube amps; maybe an ARC???? Maybe someone else has more info?

It's called being politically correct. When I was at his house he was using Levinson and ARC. Last year he was using ML3/LL1 and this year Spectral.

BTW if I went back to SS I would go with Spectral but Dan until you've heard Lamm with Wilson you aren't in a position to comment.

Further, John Giolas who has MAXX3 is also using ML3/LL1

No problem Dan. FWIW I was under the impression the dealer in Honolulu has ML3/LL1 because he called me before he opened
Dave Wilson was at his open house

Funny that. That's pretty much exactly what I told Jeff Catalano and Dimfer when we were dicussing the Maxx 2/ML3 combination.
