Ron's Favorite Private Rooms + Systems of All Time

If this thread were an audio store, the guys who love videos for evaluation of sound reproduction would all be eating sandwiches in the Home Theater Room.

Videos at least add some level of evidence to what would otherwise be empty words. You post a lot on here and a video of your system playing would at least add some credibility of where you are coming from. All we can do for now is just assume. I think we can do a little better than that. Some of us don’t hide behind words.

Its Rons assessment of what he thinks is best , i doesn t mean you or anybody else would share/ need to have the same opinion

Last time I checked this is a forum and Ron posted this thread for discussion and to have a conversation. Or did you interpret it to be for general agreement?

Carlos there are plenty of video threads already on this forum

I’m surprised that I have to spell this out. The conversation is about the importance of the room in the sound quality equation. The videos were provided as supporting evidence to substantiate my statements in regards to the subject matter at hand. The videos are not simply submittal on their own. They are to provide a reference for statements made.

Most members with the rooms ron mentioned dont make videos of their rooms / think its important .
So whats there to compare ?

It only leaves you to take their statements at face value. There are several members that come on here and post whatever they want or think and who are completely off basis. If one has strong convictions then providing additional evidence is always welcomed and an added ground for the proposition.

Save it for the sales pitch in the HT room. Videos don’t add credibility. They introduce variability. Video assessment of audio phenomena bring new meaning to the phrase “Get a room!”

You just joined about a year ago and have a lot to say, yet I don’t know if you know good sound or are as clueless as most. It would be nice to find out if your posts and words hold any water.

System videos are destroying WBF.

Care to elaborate how additional supporting evidence is a negative? It’s time to eat your Spinach and you might post a system video of your system.

i think and Ron harping on this are destroying WBF. I am happy to see both your threads going down a videos debate path. Have to start one in yours. Just set myself a reminder.

if Ron hadn’t used the phrase “video silliness” in his reply to Carlos, I would have let it go. But he could have chosen to either ignore Carlos or just say he doesn’t want to discuss videos here. He said “video silliness” - if he is going to again attack them 5 years running without learning anything, I am setting up a trench too

I realise now that the video the General deleted due to Ron telling him he did not want to adulterate this thread with videos, was a video I had posted yesterday in the SETs amp owners thread of small clip of a largely untreated room playing rachmaninoff 3. I had actually posted a short clip as a reaction test of readers. Just fun games.

Kind of easy to understand why the General picked it up, as it is amazing orchestral performance in one of the top two or three systems I have heard.

says a lot about videos and about listeners, what they listen for, instead of changing diffusers to absorbers and vice versa

Gentlemen. Enough with the video debate. If members want to post a video of their system, then so be it. That said, please stop with the constant video debate.....it's getting old.

Now, let's get back to the thread topic.

Tom

Okay, gentlemen. This ends now. One more post about this and some folks will be enjoying an involuntary vacation from this forum.

Some posts have been removed.

Harassing other members is a violation of the TOS of this forum. As a reminder, the TOS can be found here >>> https://www.whatsbestforum.com/help/terms/

I would say 5 - 7m wide, 8 to 10m long. I wouldn’t mind if it has opening to one side after that. I wouldn’t need treatment apart from a carpet, and curtains if the room had lots of windows. Could try the odd diffuser here and there based on the room.

Yes, please buy a flat with these accommodations, and, at long last, chronicle the process of setting up your own system.
