I have never use any digital copies that come with my Blu-rays...ever. They are inferior quality and I'm 100% not interested.
I want the physical disc, in 3D always (when possible), and with the best sound. Right now my Dolby Atmos collection is just over 24, and I'm just about to upgrade to my next pre/pro...UHD - Dolby Atmos - DTS:X - Auro-3D - Audyssey Platinum ...and thinking Dirac Live.

My internet speed is not up to it...with only less than 3Mbps. But what I was most curious about is prices and mint quality audio and picture.
And more speed means more money, and data costs money too. Plus, computers are unreliable (I don't have that issue with my Blus).

I know that all the kids today are totally computer aficionados, and all their music and movies and games are stored in them.

On the other hand, there are members here @ WBF who are into vinyl big time.
...Others into the newest and best DACs for your computer music library (very hi-res).
...Others like me into small 5" discs...all kind.

It is absolutely fascinating all the diversity or our movie/music passion. Our journeys are sometimes tumultuous and other times total ecstasy (the summum of nirvana).
The best way to get there is our choice, and the best choice is the one we all make.

Ten bucks for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly ... on Blu. ...Best sound and picture.

I think many of us here are movie buffs. America is movie territory. 'The Martian' is Ridley Scott's film, and Ridley is high in my film director's cinema book.
And it augurs very well Marty because you really liked it, and I believe that Steve too.

I re-watched Sicario last night.
It gave me a deeper insight on the actor's direction and performance.

Emily is very convincing, Benicio is very cool (I always liked him), and Josh is the less convincing one of the three.

Typical west coast day here today...rain. ...Cloudy and foggy.
Quiet where I am, peaceful and calm (very relax, undisturbed). ...Where jazz rains.
And I got my two little buddies outside...hummingbirds...always [strike]starring[/strike] staring @ me on their branch (apple tree).
And they come closer (plum tree), only five feet from me.

Nice, very nice. And in 3D it's more immersive, more...dimensional. ...The sounds, the music too.

I watched The Martian last night, in (((3D))) on Blu :::



• The film: Pretty much a one guy affair...Matt Damon. ...The other actors were @ the service of supporting the events.
I am not a big big fan of Matt, just a regular fan of his best stuff...Bourne guy and few others, and not to the max.
Not that I don't like the guy...I don't personally know him, never met him...so I cannot have a judgement other than his acting skills and my own overall impression.
And I never read the book so I don't know for sure from that if he would have fit the bill for me. ...Reading a book is like watching a film; everyone has his own interpretation and likes and dislikes. That's human nature...we're all different even if we're from the same animal race. ...With brain...supposedly.

For a guy left alone on Mars he did pretty good...they left quite bit of material there so that he can survive...using it and his brain.
That's the interesting aspect of it...survival on a totally far far far away not so hostile planet with completely different compositions compared to Earth; different air mixture, no water, no trees, no vegetation, sand, rocks, ...you need a space suit.

The interaction and communication with people from Earth was quite something...that's a very long "phone" line (visual). ...From the camera and the keyboard.
I got into that, no problem. And Matt was pretty relaxed the entire time; not sure that I would myself. ...Too relaxed perhaps, and always hoping and recording to an invisible viewer.
That fact kept him alive and sane as not really alone. He resolved his problems with some good ingenuity and took the risks...no choice and best.

Ridley Scott is a camera...his vision to compose photography shots are anchored in his artistic flair...like a camera in his head and moving.

• Technically the imagery and movements were in sync with clarity and precision...harmonious. ...Oozing with quality orchestration of visuals, in 3D.
And the soundtrack (sound effects) with the music score were of high caliber; Ridley's right combination with the right collaboration of sound/music people.

Matt is the driving force, so the degree we put in him as the actor convincing us of his entire ordeal is the level we accord to the film overall. ...With the story (ingredients) surrounding him.

? Overall score rating (film and technical attributes, visually in 3D and auditory): 87

Last word: Mars is not the best place to have a pet...cat, dog. ...And you still need that spacesuit to explore its vast landscape.

I revisited Inside Out last night, in 2D this time around.
I prefer in 3D, but in 2D it was also impeccable, just a "snowflake" less dimensional and perhaps slightly more relaxing for those older eyes.
It's a routine of mine: When more relaxed and predisposed...in 3D. ...A tiny bit less concentrated and alert...in 2D. Can you dig it?

Prometheus - A movie that left no one indifferent...everyone has something to say about it...no matter if it is good or bad. :b

Me, I liked it. ...And in (((3D))) more so...wow, the visual effects!

I've seen it @ least four times, and participated in some "lively" discussions.

I prefer more Prometheus than The Martian and over Exodus: Gods and Kings.

? Ridley is very stylish and polished in film's execution; it's like watching a master painter with his brush onscreen...in movement.
...Music scores are also prominent in his films.

Did you guys see The Counselor?



It doesn't have great average score ratings (35/23% over @ Rotten Tomatoes) , but it don't matter to me; I liked it...and enough to purchased the Blu and added it in my movie collection under Sir Ridley Scott's filmography.
It's not Sicario, but still a very decent little flick with some pretty good scenes spread here and there.
