I use them after Gary introduced me to them a couple of months back. Very friendly site. Just yesterday I wanted to buy a track and Amazon only had it as MP3. They did not have that album either but had a couple of tracks from the same signer which I am thinking of buying. It is only $1 and comes in any format you want.

Edit: a lack of competitive peak normalization is a HUGE plus.

I have to admit, in all honesty, when I see a Name Your Own Price recording, I typically pay $0.00. If I like it, I buy another or make a donation. Twice I got a Thank You note from the artist, after paying for the record. Nice.

Hell, one can even buy an LP (some artists do offer limited edition vinyl pressings, as well as cassettes). Personally, as one who stops at his record store of choice several times a week, Bandcamp cut that in half (at least). I can sit on my couch, use a glass smoking utensil of choice, and check out a seemingly limitless quantity of new music. Heaven on Earth, especially with closed headphones that drown out my wife.

The big question is, where are sites like Bandcamp headed on an aggregate scale? To me, this is a marker of future (and current, as in right now!) distribution of new music.

On our site try In The Silence "A Fair Dream Gone Mad". Its very much along the lines of Katatonia and Opeth. Also check out Leprous "Tall Poppy Syndrome". Its about as dark as I've taken the label. Sound isn't half bad either.
