I read the Economist. It's a magazine with real journalists. Not your thing I get it....
I used to have a subscription to that magazine but I let it lapse when I no longer believed a lot of what I was reading in it...it has just as slanted a view as many other "news" outlets.

Not surprised. Real journalism, ethics and accountability are not for everyone.

We do need to keep this in perspective. One in three will get cancer from man made causes. Need I go on. We seemro be fine with it. The same is true with alcohol/drug addiction, lung disease, etc.

Rounded off to 6 places. Percent of the world with the virus is 000010% apprpximayely.
At the moment odds are greater you would win the lottery and be struck by lightening in succession before contracting the virus.

Now havimg said the above we take reasonable precautions. We don"t stand in the middle of a golf course with a lightening rod in our hand(umbrella with metal shaft.)

This whole thing is a silly joke. By July , all this will be a distant memory and everyone will carry on forgetting they bought into the overhyped bullshit. Of course no one wants the disease and for susceptible people it could be very dangerous and even Fata, but so is normal flu!

NORMAL Flu kills up to 65K a year in the US alone. In Europe, way back in Dec, the flu was causing 40c fevers...it is a bad flu year and no hype. Along come Covid19 and world markets tumble, on tiny figures. We now have propaganda and voila world markets tumble. I guess normal flu is feeling pissed off right now! LoL Are people still getting the normal flue, now that we heard about Covid?

I also hear nonsense about people testing positive a second time and instead of people examining the accuracy of the test, we assume the near impossible! Immunology does not work like that!

If I owned Corona beer, I’d be working on the vaccine — to be delivered orally but only in Corona beer (with a lime of course!)

The business that wins big right now.

Cipro won in 2001 regarding the weaponized anthrax threat. Cost $5 a pill then. It was one of the very few antibiotics useless against anthrax. Cheap 50 cent a tablet cyclosporin worked very well, but what did CNN and the media push? CIPRO. Bayer stock skyrocketed. Reports of a man drawing a firearm in dispute over the last pack at a pharmacy...such was the scarcity.

Irony was that most medical people knew the CIPRO story was bogus, but as my pal said, the medical reporting is often wrong, so this was just anther such case....though the falsehood lasted weeks and weeks.

I no longer believe...I go where the evidence takes me!

Marc. Did you read the link that Bonzo posted. The death rate is about 2%. Mers is something like 60%. With something like Mers your health got bad so quickly you have to be hospitalized so soon. But this Covid19 you might not feel shit for two weeks without knowing you have it. And you walk around spreading this virus without you or other people knowing. Yes You might not even die from it if you are a very healthy individual and get treated properly. But think about how easy it camouflage itself and spread out. 1 million is 20,000 deaths. A thai 30 yrs old taxi driver picked up a stranger from airport. Met that person once and now he has the virus. I just came back from Japan. I want to go listen to your Zu, can you come pick me up at Heathrow?
Taxis pick up passengers and get the flu all the time. If its just a 2% death rate, its high but not a cause for panic.

I hope that when this thing is gone by mid-summer that people won't get "amnesia" about the wild predictions like all the times before: SARS, swine flu, Bird Flu, Ebola, Zika, MERS, West Nile, etc.

Indeed, ZIka and ebola were much more news worthy and even they were overblown.

But the flu is a joke despite killing 14K in the US this season already? Just what is the point you are making?
The flu is sure to kill 600K WW annually and absolutely no panic.

The regular flu must be a sick joke then...
