I have a frd visiting the HiFi Deluxe site.Best sound out of a Magico is the TotalDAC room at Hifi Deluxe. I found the ones at MOC pretty dull.
It's a terrible room - v small and awkward shapes. Taking that into account, Vincent has done an amazing job to get even a half-decent sound out of it! Let's hope he gets a better room next year or back to MOC.I have a frd visiting the HiFi Deluxe site.
I'm waiting for his report.
I actually intended to drive to Marriott Hotel after Hiend Show, but the traffic was so bad, it took me 10 minutes just to get out of the garage. MOC is in an industrial area and at 5:00pm everyone is driving out of it. The queue was so long that put me off. I decided to turn around to go back to the hotel. Very nice feedback. How would you stack the M2 v M3 in the dynamics and bass categories? How would you compare it to S7 or S5?I actually intended to drive to Marriott Hotel after Hiend Show, but the traffic was so bad, it took me 10 minutes just to get out of the garage. Having said that, I listened to two pairs of M6 and two pairs of M2. I find M6 driven by Soulution was the best sound in the Show. It was powerful, dynamic and detailed. The M6 driven by MSB system was nice too but not as dynamic as Soulution. MSB did not use a pre-amp maybe why the sound was too soft.
In Magico room, M2 was driven by Soulution 5 series amp, the sound was very nice. M2 is smaller than M3, but I think it has a bigger sound than M3. In another room, M2 was driven by Constellation Inspiration 1.0 amp with Nordost Odin 2 speaker cable, the sound was even better, more refined.
I find M2 is one of the best, if not the best, speaker in its size. It really projects a sonic picture that only large speaker can do without losing its resolution and temperament.
I would compare M2 with M3 as M6 with M Project. They were from the same designer, same factory and similar drive units.Very nice feedback. How would you stack the M2 v M3 in the dynamics and bass categories?

Thanks for your f'back Adam. I also like the synergy between Soulution 7 series amps & Magico, though i'll be interested to see how the new Vitus SIA-030 pairs with the M series speakers. On the digital side, I like the APL Hifi Master Reference series transport/dac which are cut from a similar cloth as the MSB Select II.Personally, I liked the MSB Select / Soulution / M2 room better than Constellation / M2. The later sounded too soft and dull to my ears. Same for the full MSB system with the M6. Way too relaxed.
The M6 driven by all Soulution system (in the Soulution room) sounded much more dynamic and alive. I wish they used the MSB Select II DAC to see what the M6 can really do ...
The M6's ideally need a large room to breath. The room treatments (incl: SMT diffusers) in the Total Dac room no doubt improved the sound. You're only as strong as your weakest link as they say.Perfectly agree... I spent a lot of time in each stand with MAGIGO speakers at the MOC and I did not understand the intentions, neither of MSB, nor of Soulution with the M6, preferring the sound presentation of the M2 in the 2 rooms where they played (Magico & Constellation)
But for me, personally, the best exploitation of Magico speakers (M6) was, by far, at TOTALDAC full system, source and amp,
just alive, incarnate and eloquent.
TLi, obviously you preferred the M6/Soulution room of all the Magico speakers at the show. Though purely as loudspeakers, how close does the M2 get to the M6 in your opinion? Cost no object, which would you rather take home?I find M2 is one of the best, if not the best, speaker in its size. I think that shows what a really good front end does to bring out the best in SOTA speakers like the M6. The latest Total Dac by all reports is probably in the top 5 or 6 dacs in the world. And as you eluded to, with more breathing room and careful attention to room acoustics, the M6's are capable of glorious sound.Yes it is certain ! but this room was also much less suitable for the MAGICO than those of the MOC, besides these M6 play even better at the TOTALDAC Headquaters (testimonys I had).
Noticed, It was for me the first time I listened to these incredible speakers and the new TOTALDAC Amp1... nice experience !
