Once again there seems to be a scarcity of really good TV shows. For me, last year the decision was easy, as IHO there was nothing better in a drama miniseries than Chernobyl which subsequently won all the major awards.
It wasn't until this week that my vote is in for this year's Best Dramatic Show in a miniseries as well as Best Actor. The Loudest Voice is the story Roger Ailes and how he created Fox News making it the most successful cable news network on television and chronicled his life at Fox News until he was terminated due to a law suit filed by Gretchen Carlson for Sexual Harassment. This is a must watch with only 7 episodes each less than an hour. The story is spell binding.
The story however is the depiction of Roger Ailes by Russell Crowe, who with the help of a great make up artist became Roger Ailes and this is what always captures my attention.Russell Crowe is so good that he truly is Roger Ailes in every way. Looking at a side by side picture of both Russell Crowe and the real Roger Ailes, the resemblance, the walk, the talk, the mannerisms is truly uncanny
I understand that he gained 32 pounds for the role, which, together with makeup made him so believable in this role
This is my vote for Best Drama and Best Actor to date this year. The Irishman is to be released soon and who knows where that will lead but for now it would be a different category (Best Dramatic movie vs Best Dramatic miniseries)
