We finally finished one part of the house: Tinka’s home theater. (Comfy couch to come.)

I almost don't dare to say this but here it comes:
Black matte walls and ceiling (and black carpet) would VASTLY improve the picture quality

Should be great Ron. Nice and intimate. After cataracts
sugeries, I am redoing my HT. Only 10 x 15 so doing a 5.1.2 system. The 83” Sony Master Series A90j is on the wall. I have in in ceiling speakers here and will be getting an Anthem AVR to pair with my Anthem 5 channel amp. Even with my old Marantz, the sound is fantastic.

Tinka is planning to put dark green velvet wallpaper on the walls and on the ceiling. But an all-black box? You’ll never get that past her.

Dark green and especially velvet (very little reflexion) is already way better than the white/beige you have now, but you will therefore always have a green (or whatever color you chose) tinge that also ruins the picture

If you could at least suggest a dark(ish) color-neutral grey that would be second best for the picture quality right behind black
