Waversa Systems says that the patented, passive technology employed in the EXT series forms electric and magnetic fields that reduce the detrimental influences of RFI and EMI and prevent impulse noise generated within a connected system, such as a DAC and amplifier, from flowing between components, all of which degrade the digital signal and a system’s sound quality.
This proprietary Waversa technology is applied differently at each level of the series, which includes the original EXT-1, EXT Reference, and EXT Reference Plus. However, the EXT-2, which replaces the EXT-1, incorporates:
? a higher-quality version of the patented, passive elements than its predecessor,
? modular chambers filled with damping material to house the passive elements, and
? a vibration mitigating CNC milled, high-grade aluminum case.
Like the original EXT devices, the EXT-2 is small but has a big impact. Waversa quantifies the performance improvement of the EXT-2 relative to that of the EXT-1 as being by a factor of five.
All versions of the EXT-2 except the HDMI version are only 100mm X 95mm X 21mm and 410g (~4 inches X 3.75 inches X 0.9 inches and 14.5 ounces). The EXT-2 HDMI is, except for the aluminum finish, almost identical to the EXT-1 in appearance. It is 85mm X 50mm X 11mm and weighs 80g (~3.5 inches X 2 inches X 0.5 inches and 2.9 ounces).

Simple to place in any system, the EXT-2 provides immediate sound improvements and, with the HDMI version, video quality improvements, as well - with all these improvements much superior to those of the EXT-1 versions.
All versions of the EXT-2 connect between source and endpoint with the longest cable from the source to the EXT-2 and with a short cable (no more than 30cm/12 inches), either the high-quality one supplied with the EXT-2 or one of your own preference, between the EXT-2 and the endpoint. The key to best performance is to have the short cable between EXT-2 and the endpoint. The EXT-2 is not directional, so it does not matter which port is used for incoming and outgoing signals.
There are no third-party reviews of the EXT-2 available yet, but Kim Pyeon, Audio Columnist for HiFi Club, South Korea, had this to say about the EXT-1 (translated):
Waversa’s WLAN Isolator showed a clear sound quality improvement effect by removing electromagnetic noise from a LAN cable. The biggest change was that the stage background became quieter and every note defined, followed by a wider sound stage, an increased sense of space, and energy; especially the low-frequencies were revived.

Users of the EXT-1 who have replaced their units with the EXT-2 all concur with Mr. Pyeon on the various ways the EXT-2 enhances their digital playback and are unanimous in reporting that the EXT-2 is unambiguously, significantly superior to the EXT-1 in all those audio aspects.
