What’s the best Dac and amplifier combination you ever heard? What did it do that made it special.

Ok, I'll play.

I can't say that I have heard a "best" DAC and amplifier combination, but I like mine:

Schiit Yggdrasil LIM DAC
Octave HP 700/Octave RE 320 preamp/amp combo

I don't like it because it's as close as I can get to vinyl. I like it because it's as close as I can get, within my budget, to the sound of unamplified live music.

The large disparity in price between DAC and preamp/amp combo is no accident. While the DAC may be relatively cheap, it beats, or comes close to, the performance of some much more expensive DACs (multiples the price). It delivers a high quality signal worthy of processing by the much more expensive amplification.

@Al M. i went from KR audio va900 and Resonessence mirus pro dac to The Infigo Method 4 dac and method 6 amplifter. I listen to a lot of quick hitting jazz and this works for me. Both combos worked but this one had better prat and lower noise floor.
