What a show! I've been to other audio shows but never AXPONA, and wow! It was really something. Without getting into a lot of detail I would start by acknowledging I was totally blown away by:
- Ideon electronics. I heard them in conjunction with a mid sized pair of Magico speakers driven by the STUNNING J-M-F- preamplifier and stereo amplifier. Just stunning. I heard music in an away I'd never heard before in a very small hotel room . Never heard such great imaging , sound staging and detail.
- The Scott Walker "big" room was REALLY something. Another Ideon stack but their top of the line re-clocker on the front end of J-M-F- mono blocks and preamp with the latest Estelon speakers that were, in a word, jaw-dropping. This was arguably the best room I attended at the show. Lots of Synergistic Research in the array here.
- The "small" Magic room with the A5 and the Antipodes Oladra server was quite something. Stunning.
- The Dynaudio room was fabulous with the Confidence 60's on display featuring the Moon SimAudio 791 on the digital front end. It was awesome. I had hoped to audition the 30's but oh well.
