Boulder 2110 Series

LL21,
Did you eventually compare the Mephisto with the 2160?
I am more familiar with Gryphon than Boulder. I would like to hear your comments. Thank you. :)
Hi...I never got the chance to hear the 2160 in the end. Unfortunately the local guys were really struggling to get their hands on one, and then after several weeks of waiting, we had lock down, and I have not seen them open since.

Hi,
This dream comparison remains a mystery then! o_O
I know Gryphon sound pretty well because I have heard it many times. Boulder is elusive.

A friend offered to sell me his Pandora and Mephisto two years ago, but they were not really my taste. So I am looking around if some interesting offers pop up again. :)

If you are considering 2150’s then look at the stereo 3060. I think Chuck said it was a nice step up.

Hello guys!
What do you think of pairing a Sonus Faber Aida II with Boulder 2150?

Thanks
Should be a great combination.

The 3060 is a step up but the 2150s are great amps and are in some ways more versatile. The 3060 needs a 30 amp 220/240 volt outlet. The 2150s can be used with standard US outlets. The 3060 is about $20K+ more.

I just saw, the 2150 also needs a 30a outlet. No problem, I can use exclusive 30a outlet for each amplifier monoblock. What power cord do you use on the 3060? Did you place a special order for a cable manufacturer?

Thankyou

I am still using the power cable that came with the 3060. I should of course upgrade the cord, haven't decided which.

Off course , why off course .
BOULDER made the freakin amp .
Does anyone seriously believe they would not put something better on it if they thought it would improve the sound .
Its a 120 k anp or whatever the price is , its the best boulder makes unless you need the power of the 3050 s .

Brg hj

It is $130K. They supply a good power cord, however, at this level there is not one best power cord. If someone has all Transparent Opus or Nordost Odin etc. they will likely want to choose the power cord to match their system. It does not make sense to make the customer pay for a $5K power cord that they will leave in the box.

+1 Agree. Power cords are like the icing on the cake! ;)

A 5 k powercord in the shop costs may be 500 - 1K $ max. to manufacture .
Any powercord manufacturer would be glad to work with boulder just as free advertizing .
I t wont cost them much , i just dont think they see the benefit .
Boulder is not into the hocus pocus industry i pressume

I have used the Boulder supplied power cord for four years. I don't know where they sourced it. As I recall I had to send them a picture of the outlet so they could be sure to supply the right plug. It seems like a decent cord.

What are the square feet of the 2100 series?
I understand they are Boulder's in-house design and machining.
Are there any secret recipes or technology in these feet; use of special elastomer, carbon-fiber, etc?
Are they removable? :)

Are they removable?
They probably have threaded holes on top of the feet , with a bolt through the casing so it can only be tightened with a bolt internally.
Then they mount some circuitboards on top.
To protect future buyers from mounting /spending money on aftermarket rubbish, lol.

They do look very nice / clean , they belong to the design visually .
Putting aftermarket stuff on there would be blasphemy afaic
If i would buy boulder i d buy the 2110 series preamp and the 3060 power amp .
Pinnacle of highend construction

Agree. Do not mess with the Boulder footers. They are engineered for the products and designed for purpose.

Isnt it some kind of constrained layer damping design? If I can find where i read that, will cut/paste it here.

A pair of Wilson Alexx's set up with Boulder 2100 preamp/2150 monos vs Gryphon Pandora/Gryphon Mephisto in the same room! Fun watch...3 full tracks, each played on each setup one right after the other...
