I have wanted to own one of the Devialet products since Doug first posted his review on SS years ago.
I now want 5 of these for my HT. It very well could be my last purchase.
What an interesting product! If the phantom lives up to the other products in the Devialet's line, this could be a game changer. Cannot imagine the company putting their name on a product that would lower their reputation.
I cannot wait to see what this product really is....
Did anyone see the 48 fps version of the newest Hobbit movie? The clarity and depth of the version in 3D was one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen. However, I did not enjoy it. It caused a bit of visual fatigue and actually distracted me from the film. I felt as if I was on the set and...
Andy has started to design speakers that have front-firing bass drivers simply because people have a hard time wrapping their mind around side-firing drivers. If Andy Payor says there is no difference, I believe him. IMHO, there isn't another speaker designer who knows more. However, sometimes...
The KEF R500 speakers fit the bill. Great technology, great engineering, and great sound. http://soundstagehifi.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=444:kef-r500-loudspeakers&catid=55:full-length-reviews&Itemid=4
I can never say it enough, visiting Andy at his shop was one of the highlights of my audiophile life. He is so kind and smart. A true original. If you ever have the opportunity to pay him a visit in his shop, do not miss it. Seeing the process he goes through to build a speaker is extremely...
I loved the movie. At the beginning of the closing credits, people clapped and started hooting a bit. Video quality of the IMAX theater was simply incredible. Have not been that visually impressed since Avatar. I am a huge fan of this series and was definitely bummed by the early reviews. But...
I really enjoyed meeting Alon at the TWBAS event. He was very kind and loved to talk audio. The man is very detail oriented. He discussed in detail the type of materials he uses in all of his products and why he chooses certain vendors to buy from. The process is extremely time consuming and...
Did RH provide a comparison for the Arrakis in his preview? Did he provide one for the Altair? The X-2? In the Q-7 preview? In fact, he doesn't. He has heard each speaker, so why no comparison? Aren't they all the best too? Perhaps you will accept his excuse since he generally doesn't provide...
You would have criticized him whether he compared it to the Arrakis or not. Jeff made the right choice by not unfairly comparing the two speakers. Sure, it would have been great to have the Arrakis onhand for the Q7 review, but I honestly do not believe the room would have supported all that...

this will certainly drive the price of used x-2's down quite a bit. with a 10/10 rating, in any color, from a Wilson authorized dealer, this could be great for people who want a brand new X-2 at 50% of list.
The speaker is very balanced. It has great extension both in the highs and the lows. All the drivers integrate beautifully. In Jeff's room, the speakers are around 12' from the center seat. I could go on and on about how they disappear and how you cannot even detect their presence in the room...
caesar is a walking contradiction. he wants his music altered. he chooses gear with "soul" that colors the music. so, in turn, the system is squarely in the way. he is basically assembling an audio system that remixes what has already been mastered.
caesar is clueless. he seems to love to champion against Magico because they are so technically good, he simply cannot wrap his mind around their sound. their sound distracts him! is it possible that he has never hear what his music is supposed to sound like? either way, his biggest flaw is he...
Alon also conducted measurements, but his were not available at the time Jeff wrote the article. Also, we were using the mic to help dial in the bottom end.
Hello ack, I spoke with Charles Kim, who is representing WideLab for the TWBAS event. He was surprised to hear that a potential dealer found the Aurender to have any issues in the treble. He also said that he wasn't aware of any potential dealers at the moment, but did say that Goodwin's there...
I auditioned it in my own system a few months back. At the time, the unit was in for review, but after a couple of weeks it became a contender for TWBAS. So, I wrote a story about the S10 instead of review it. I did not have any issues in my system. I also used it for a couple hours today and...
The speakers went up yesterday morning at 10 am and Alon got to Wilmington around 6 yesterday evening. Irv was there to help unpack the speakers, not position them. Jeff and I did that yesterday before Alon arrived. Last night, they fiddled with the position a bit and then dialed them in this...
