Pass Labs .8 Series!
I have the Pass XA 30.8 which is an upgrade from the XA 30.5. I run the amp with Avantgarde horns (with a new pair of Trio's on the way to test soon in my house). I feel the 30.8 is just slightly better but very similar in character to the 30.5. Both work great with horns with excellent bass...- Blazar

What is the most highly resolving speaker you have ever heard?
A dead room (high absorption) will make any speaker sound more "resolving". I would be a significant number of "audition" situations are apples to oranges because of vast differences in the way rooms are setup. just in case nobody has said it: over 95% of the time, your best subwoofers will be DIY. Mass market subs including JL audio rarely come close. 4x12" drivers or 3x15" dayton audio ultimax's in a sealed or ported enclosure powered by around 2000-2500 watts ... Avantgarde Horn Speakers
I find the pass xa30.8 is quite holographic for a Solid state. Pass has more experience building class A than just about anyone and they test on high eff. Speakers. I cant tolerate poor bass or mid bass response of set amps... It would really annoy me.- Blazar

I have the Pass Labs XA30.8. Running Avantgarde horns, this amp sounds EXCELLENT. Not sure how exactly to be poetic using audiophile terminology. With high sensitivity speakers, extreme quiet (hiss) is needed among other things, and these deliver. Other amps that I have tried with these...- Blazar

If we are talking about producing a sufficiently rigid structure for subwoofers, there is no reason to stop at aluminum... some of us in the DIY crowd simply create a custom concrete form around our enclosure... problem solved for vastly less money. The odds that this sub will beat multi-driver DIY subwoofers made by guys in the DIY forums is ZERO. Anyone who thinks otherwise just doesn't know any better.
