    Cartridgeman Stylusforce Gauge DFG420

It reminds me a lot a battery in Studer. https://nagravox.com/products/backup-battery-for-studer-a810 You can find those Varta or similar on Ebay/Amazon.

    Turntable Level

Got Audio Technica AT615a for Amazon. Accurate it's NOT. Also - it looks quite chunky, but actually it's pretty light. So i guess built quality is not the greatest. Just skip it.

Belt Drive vs Direct Drive and which one?

@skinnyfla since you have an access for a demo decks (some maybe even can be demoed at your place) - this is a big luxury that many don't have. All decks (actually most of my HiFi gear) i bought without possibility to audition first - purely based on reviews, recommendations and hunch. So i'd...

Mid range phono stage... what shortlist? (£2k second hand)

I've got CANOR TP306 VR+ - and it sounds amazing. Built like a tank. Better than my ARC Ref5 preamp. And it's flexible with gains and loadings - which was important to me and indeed paid dividends in tuning sound just right to my liking.

Belt Drive vs Direct Drive and which one?

FWIW - there is interview with Franc Kuzma where he talks about improving stability of belt driving turnables by using DC motor (vs AC) and rigid belt (vs elastic). Obviously we can suspect he's biased but his logic made sense to me. I'm saying this in a contest of if you're looking for pitch...

My cartridge’s stylus cantilever skews when dropped to record

Update - got it measured few days ago - side force shows 0.29gr. Antiskating is disengaged during this measurement. I'm not worried because next week my new Kuzma setup is arriving. But still i'm curious what makes this arm to behave like this...

Just had same question contemplating which level to use - i have 4 bubble one and all show a bit different stuff.... One of them is a vintage soviet industrial one - i tend to trust it the most, but i have no way to be sure. So just ordered DigiPas DWL80PRO + Audio Technica AT615a - will see...

My cartridge’s stylus cantilever skews when dropped to record

Few more tests today. Since @mtemur asked to do a test with electronic scale - i had to make mine working. i bought one exactly like this long time ago but it came without batteries. a shop nearest to me didn't have this AG12 type and didn't bother to look further. So today i went to 5 shops -...

My cartridge’s stylus cantilever skews when dropped to record

Thank you all for your input on this !!! This is an interesting issue - let's see if we can get to bottom of it... As Shuggie said: - the Nottingham tonearm has very little side to side movement range - its antiskating is mechanical lever with weight - so when it's OFF it's OFF The azimuth...

My cartridge’s stylus cantilever skews when dropped to record

Hello All, My turnable was setup by the dealer and sounds good. But today i took a look on the stylus with a lupe for the first time. With the record stopped when i drop the needle i see that cantilever gets skewed to the inside of the record. I meat it looks kinda bent. When tonarm is up the...
