    Paul McGowan Prefers Digital

I thought you moved on to the Terminator?

Tidal or Competitor Without a Computer (like Spotify)

It is a streamer. What streamer are you planning on using, we didn't know you had made that decision already.

Do you guys trust your first impressions when listening to a system or a component? How long does it take you to evaluate?

I don't trust my first impression, I need time to get the bigger picture. I spend a week with the new component and then go back to the old component for a week and then back to the new. Sometimes repeat that more than once.

Another option to test the waters would be the relatively cheap Bluesound Node 2i being controlled by an iDevice. It has line-out and digital out to feed another DAC. The line out should be of better quality than the headphone out of an iDevice. No other computer hardware required.

If you have a macbook or any computer you should be able to stream direct to the MSB renderer from the Qobuz windows or macos apps using UPNP/DLNA. Or Roon.

Qobuz vs. Tidal? Which one is better?

Qobuz sublime subscriber here. I don't need to stream more than 16/44.1. Love the discounts on purchasing as high as resolution as I want.

Berkeley Audio DAC Series 2 or Naim DAC. Or?

I have at least 300 DSD version of albums along with the PCM version. I haven't missed them one bit since getting the Yggdrasil.

Berkeley Audio DAC Series 2 or Naim DAC. Or?

The Yggdrasil Analog 2 will be 95% of the way there after 100 or so hours, well before their 15 day return policy. Mine did sound pretty congested when I first plugged it in, so I gave it 48 hours of continual music playing and then came back to it. At that point I didn't want to go back to my...

    CA takes aim at MQA

I’m going to say it’s automated and no time is spent listening post or tweaking. There simply isn’t enough time. Deblurring is more marketing than anything, it’s the secret sauce that requires the MQA files be created up front to require licensing later. How are they debluring multitrack...

    CA takes aim at MQA

I still believe Apple holds the power, but they may never move to lossless streaming.

Anyone hear the Brinkmann Nyquist DAC?

That's just one guy going on and on about his new DAC. Not much of a discussion.

Comparison: Schiit Yggdrasil DAC vs. Berkeley Alpha DAC 2

With the just released Analog 2 upgrade for the Yggdrasil is it enough to make it the clear winner? https://www.computeraudiophile.com/ca/bits-and-bytes/schiit-audio-yggdrasil%C2%A0analog%C2%A02-released-r689/
