Hi Circles, did you take delivery of a La Scala? Or any others?
Thought I’d revive this to see if there are any new la Scala owners with any new or interesting comments or comparisons…
Thanks so much for the info Golum! And indeed, I just receive an email response from him! He seems kind (just slow :))
It’s good to know my money didn’t fall into a void and they’re waiting on the manufacturer to fill their order of a bunch of tubes.
I suppose this slowness in manufacturing...
Hello to all the Lampi gang here!
I’m trying to find out some information and opinions about Best300B.com and figured this may be as good a place as any to ask, since Lampi owners are purchasers of lots of KR Audio Richard Kron Limited tubes.
Does anyone know anything about Best300B.com?
I...
If the TRP is your preamp, then listen at the volume level you like for mood.
If you use a preamp, you can find out what it’s unity gain is (high up there on the dial most likely), then start out at “0” on the TRP and raise vol on TRP until you reach your top/loudest listening level. From there...
StillPoints are quite different, are multiple pieces and use ceramic ballbearings for isolation/vibration control. Pretty sure those are just solid steel. But, yes, I believe most “Atlantic family” DACs, at least, have these footers now.
I like them too, but a great —and cheap— isolation trick...
As most here probably know....cables are just as important as tube choices and the two can affect each other + or —
It’s important to continue to experiment for the best synergy! Lol. I’m seeing how versatile and moldable the DAC can be!
Thank you for the reminder paragraph there wisnon!!
I’d agree with most of that said. The Genalex/Gold Lion KT77’s are kind of “forced and nervous” sounding (look back what I just said about them) and do also hear that midbass dip and forwardness in my system.
Also from his comments, makes me...
LOL! I know. I’ve been here ;)
I was more thinking in specifics of bass control, upper end extension, and linearity. Was hoping someone may say that, yes, the best tubes mentioned in here do indeed sound different in these areas than the tubes I’ve had to try.
I’ve had a TRP here breaking in for a couple weeks and it is indeed very good!
But to first talk about the 4P1L/R2R A/GA; When it comes to my often listening of remastered live Grateful Dead and other well recorded live improv rock, there is a speed, snap, energy and crystalline bite to the...
I’m a bit late, as I stopped getting notifications for the thread... but, leftside, did you also hear the E53 and decided to stick with your R2R for now?
Anyone have clear glass/brown base GEC KT66 that feel like they’re getting the same (or close) wonderful sound as described for the smoked glass/black base?? I’m assuming the “ethereal magic” described from Golum’s friend is the smoked glass/black base, if they are the most desirable... But...
So here’s a good question... Will the 4P1L tubes from the “Atlantic” work in the new GA 2 TRP??
The 4P1L seems be such an open and linear tube.
OR what is the most linear freq response pentode tube??
As that’s the magic in the Atlantic, IMO. It is not heavy in the mids or anywhere really.
