Thanks for that great information. Very disciplined of you to have teased out that last bit so that the Koda's sing and even exceed the Mephisto in this critical area.
I agree 100% there are very many highly regarded largely epic class A designs that have that signature "bottom up" sound...

Your descriptions are great and I can reconcile my preferences with them. The thread that works its way through your posts is that you miss the foundational midbass of the Gryphon. Once you have that, all other amplification seems to be lacking if just a bit. It is the hallmark of the live...
well the clear lesson there is if you wife pays any attention whatsoever to any choice you have made in life you would be best served to take notice. :p
Very glad you are pleased with them. ;)
My experience is that simpler is often better and that lower power amps of similar design sound better than higher powered amps often through forced simplicity. The exception would be Michael's design, the only SS amp I know of that is limited exclusively...
Bill at Gtt above obviously has a vested interest in his statement re: the Tambaqui......however he's heard the lot. My guess is he watches at times with mixed feelings clients buying large stacks with their eyes and wallets and not their ears or they blow off the Tambaqui because its not...
The IQ is definitely worthy of top shelf components in the crossover. Qualio did a fantastic job with the commercial crossover with Jantzen foil inductor on the midrange and high quality Mundorf alum caps at all locations.
It is not practical in a commercial speaker for the manufacturer to max...
Here is what I would do if you were really serious about small footprint and way less cost even if that is not an objective. Would not shock me if you felt it was on par mostly due to the last rec.....Plenty of multi 100k systems in Europe running the tiny Icon preamp if the source components...
Gents wanted to give a heads up I am posting a pair of Musiklab M300 monos on the mart probably tomorrow if I get around to it. They started life as very low hour Gamut m250 mk3 and spent about a month with Michael last summer in Denmark for the conversion. I listen mostly to my D220, grabbed...
The LA90 has a SMPS with a traditional mosfet output stage.
That is where amplification is headed IMO, a rethinking of power supplies, ala LinnenberG's new mono's, better and better switching supplies tied to more traditional output stages.
I can only imagine a new SS amp with a SMPS tied to...
Yes, the audio hierarchy in a bit of a state of upheaval after many years of speculation of said upheaval IMO, especially with amplification and digital sources a close second. The TA3255 is a wonder chip for sure, with a 48V supply it is shockingly good. I built a portable boom box this summer...
Ha! like I said no pretentiousness here;) right now a pair of bridged Topping LA90D's having no trouble with them. As you can see Grzegorz was gracious to allow me to design the LF cabinet for my needs. He pushed back a bit until he realized I knew exactly what I needed and why. It is sealed...
Shout out to Qualio and Grzegorz for a remarkable speaker. Thought I would share some impressions and why I think this is such a unique 3 way. I have about 25 years learning, the last 15 confined to a smaller office 20 x 24'. This has produced over a decade of plenty of experience with mostly 2...
First time poster, but felt compelled to share my experience with Musiklab and more importantly its creator Michael Edinger. I grabbed I would assume one of the few used Musiklab d220's in the US a couple of years ago. I knew little about it other than it was related to the Gamut and I had...
