    Tech companies and commercials

I can't help but laugh at this thread. I couldn't tell you what technology company commercials stink because I haven't watched any commercials in years. I started disliking commercials in high school and I turn the radio to another station or I put in a cd. What little tv I watch I automatically...

    Any Numismatists Out There

I've been collecting American coins for years, but nothing of any great value. I'm really just interested in the artwork on the coins. My father collected coins and currency from around the world for decades and I inhereted that. I've added very little to it, but that's mostly because I don't...

    Some Favorite Titles & Recommendations

I usually prefer single instrument concerti or orchestral pieces, but two vocal recordings stand out for me. One is sadly only available on cd, Cecilia Bartoli's "Impatient Lover" and on record is Jaque Offenbach's Orphee Aux Enfers on Renaissance Records or Disques Festival (either 0ne) both...

    Who Still Uses A Preamp

I can't imagine using anything other than a pre amp. Besides, I doubt I will ever buy another amp system unless what I have now goes completely belly up on me. I love what I have and I ain't gonna change it! Maybe an integrated would be just as good, but why change when I'm satisfied? If I...

    Your Wine Preference

Since these days I tend to eat far more chicken and fish than red meat I have a natural tendency toward white wines in general, but chardonnay in particular. Frankly, I'm glad that it's considered passe` by a lot of the fashion conscious. That means they won't be buying it just to look good to...

What Regular Pressing LPs sound like audiophile pressings?

I have a copy of Frank Zappa's Waka Jawaka that is amzing! Fortunately he was a stickler for making good recordings and we all benefit. Also Linda Ronstadt's 2Originals of Linda Ronstadt I34 EVC 52 760/61 (German pressing) that contains her first two albums with The Stone Poneys. Very nicely...

    Mobile Fidelity

I have the opposite opinion of this pressing. I was astounded by how well it was recorded and the quality of the pressing itself. It's one of the best I have. I don't really have a favorite MFSL record. How does one choose?

    List of Turntable Manufacturers

Here's one that is distributed by Ayre Acoustics and their network of dealers across the US. http://www.bauer-audio.de/ They make the DPS/3 and DPS/2 turntables.

Do you prefer traditional headphones or in-ear monitors?

For me it just depends on where I am. Etymotic for biking and Stax Lambda Pro III at home. The Etymotics don't sound as good as the Stax, but then I never expected them too. Now I just need to get new caps for my Stax amp and I can listen at night again. It's starting to act up on me after 18...

    Howdy!

This looks like a good place to warm my feet by the fire. It's always good to converse with like minded folk who enjoy one of the best hobbies ever created. I love that this place has a section just for Ayre equipment. Love their stuff. In fact, this may be the last stereo I buy in my life. I...

    Burn-in

I'm no electrician and know nothing about teflon caps or anything else in regard to the parts inside the equipment, but I will never forget when I bought my present setup. I bought the Ayre K5-xe amp and the V5-xe pre amp and I was shocked at how canned the music sounded. I started getting...

    Ayre 5ce

I listened to it two years ago and wound up buying the Linn Adikt instead. The only difference I heard was the bass was better in the Linn. There is someone on another forum in New York that I hope to visit later this year who has one with the MP upgrade and he loves it to death. When I visit...
