I agree with TheMoon - I have Townshend podiums under Legacy Aeris speakers and was really pleased at the difference. Soundstage grew in depth and width, and while the overall bass output was slightly less, it was cleaner. They podiums also cleaned up the mids and highs to my ears. I have heard...
I have gotten a chance to hear the Coda 8 and the Bricasti M15 on the same pair of Dynaudio Temptation speakers. The Coda was a little thicker - it added meat on the bones, so to speak. The Bricasti was fast and nimble and in particular had fantastic imaging. Roger Waters Amused to Death sounded...
Have you read or looked at the Swarm by AudioKinesis? Essentially it requires more boxes but in a troublesome room, I think it would solve the node problem it seems like you are having. I'm in a much larger room and not only do they fill in the bass side of things, integrating them also helped...
I've had the same system set up two different ways and to my ears, I think imaging was better with the equipment to the side. That said, I was able to upgrade to better cables with the gear in the middle because the length was ultimately shorter.
I have gotten to hear them a couple of times and really liked them. To my ears, they lean towards more of a bottom-up sound - but with the rear tweeter I'm certain placement and room design will impact that. They're absolutely fantastic on smaller scale intimate music. I recall that they imaged...
It looks like they have a well executed website - not that it is hard to do anymore - and get some nice gear there. I am trying to determine if they are legitimate or not.
I have used some custom made Audioquest XLR splitters in the past and listened critically after placing them in the system. I did not detect any loss or degradation. If you contact them directly they will make whatever level of splitters you would like!
Thanks LL21! I know they are built like a tank and with excellent internal parts and quality. Like you have done, I am hoping to climb the ladder through pre-owned purchases so having an understanding of what to expect is helpful.
Does anyone have an educated idea as to the life expectancy of the big class-A Gryphon amplifiers? How old are they before caps and relays start to become an issue?
