Can someone please chime in on which set of Amp/Preamp would be better for my sound tastes/goals?

-Excellent Treble/top end extension - AIRY

-more of a 'spotlit' clear sound

-Excellent detail retrieval/FAST sounding

-Excellent Soundstage

Musical taste: Progressive rock, light rock, fusion, jazz, female vocalists

thank you!

I must admit, I've never heard luxman with Magicos. However, I did just hear Magico S3's with a constellation preamp and amp combo TODAY in Vancouver's own AudioFi audio salon. All I can say is: I'll be selling my Lamm Gear, my Wilson Sashas for the Magico Constellation combo.

I have an M-10X I've used with Magico S3 MkIIs and now S3 2023s. Very fine amp. Dynamic, good bass, airy refined top end. I drive it with an Esoteric C1X solo pre after trying an ARC Ref 6SE, Pass XP-32, and a Constellation Pictor with Filter in my system. My dealer carries the Taurus with the Pictor in addition to Luxman. I prefer my combo. I listen predominately to classical and jazz.

I have only heard these brands paired under show conditions. But I would take Constellation and it would be an easy decision.

According to TAS, new Constellation Revelation Series 2 (incl Taurus/Pictor) was shown in Munich this month, reportedly featuring switch mode power supplies.

Switch mode power supplies cost less to build and are known for driving good bass. They also have a reputation for less competitive performance in the upper registers. Consequently, we see more frequent use in powered subwoofers, less in full range applications. There have been exceptions. Two that come to mind are Jeff Rowland and Merrill. The technology is still relatively new and has yet to gain widespread market acceptance in high end audio. Perhaps Constellation will be one to change that.
