Near Or Far Field Listening For This Room?

I'm actually working on setting up what I want on the walls (such as a Sgt. Pepper's blanket) before I run the EQ Wizard. Finally have streaming setup. Now it'll take some time to work on the room acoustics & moving things around the room. Just by listening I can hear that the room is too bright...

Near Or Far Field Listening For This Room?

I'm using a Mytek DAC+ with a SOtM streamer w/pwr.supply, MeLE Roon w/2TB & Tidal, but will be interesting to try that, thanks!

Near Or Far Field Listening For This Room?

I'm currently working on it (while busy juggling other) & have been working on setting up streaming. I'm confident my best sound will come from setting up along the longer wall for near-field & am waiting on material to treat the room.

Near Or Far Field Listening For This Room?

Sorry for not keeping up here folks. I've had a several attention needing matters, one of which was my trusty 'ol Krell KAV-300cd's transport went for the 2nd time in 8-9 years. That put a temporary halt to everything, while researching the subject of players, transports w/DAC's, etc. Ended up...

Does Analog EQ belong in State of the Art Systems?

I agree with you Ron, coming from a purist's sense. I built a Heathkit EQ back in the very early 80's & it had very, very low distortion (THD) rate of like .005%. But I too agree with you about where is the signal passing & what adulteration is taking place. I tend to go with the 1st option...

Near Or Far Field Listening For This Room?

Thanks again Powerman, the bulkhead is indeed filled with pink fluffy, as is the ceiling. The symetrical idea is great, but then I wonder about taking extra space from the bass to bloom?

Near Or Far Field Listening For This Room?

Hello Powerman and thanks for your response. The bulkhead covers a 4" sewage drain & was the minimum size/space to cover it. I'll have to experiment with both set ups. I had quite a favorable near field setup in the old house, but the room was certainly too small which makes me look forward to...

Near Or Far Field Listening For This Room?

Thanks Marty, I did get 4 'Perfect Plugs' outlets for my dedicated hardware circuit. 2 each for either far or near field. There will be seperate outlets with the lighting. I was truly looking forward to a decent size & shape room, but the bulkhead was unavoidable and in a far field listening...

Near Or Far Field Listening For This Room?

Recently moved and having an audio room constructed in the basement, as no other room in the house afforded a closed door or a symetrical layout. The room is 24' x 16' x 8+' ceiling. However, there is a bulkhead which runs down one side of the room, which makes me think it's best to have my...
