Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Correct me if I’m wrong, but electrostatic headphones will need a totally different amp than dynamic headphones. Is Taiko planning on creating an electrostatic amp version of XDMI too?

I'm also using these, one for router and one for switch. If you have the dcd, you only need one of these batteries.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Emile, this is exciting for headphones users. When you get to the planning phase, would you consider putting a more powerful headphone amp in the Olympus I/O box, maybe even something balanced?

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Hi Emile, on the Olympus, is the difference between NSM and Roon the same as what we are currently hearing with the Extreme, where NSM sounds much better?

Hi Emile, Is there any benefit to grounding the Olympus? Will it have a ground post? Thanks.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Does the Olympus need two power cords, one for LPS and other for battery charger?

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Oddly, I prefer the internal Dac of the HE-1 with the dedicated Taiko USB driver over a heavily modded Chord Dave (without Taiko USB driver) the Dac chip might be a bit outdated, but the analog section is probably really good with its direct connection to the preamp. I’m eagerly waiting for...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

No issues with the Shunyata Omega USB cable I’m using. I think the Sablon I have also worked, but I need to find it again and test. Will report back.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I also love Roon. It’s probably the greatest music discovery application there is. Its interface is 2nd to none, but for local file playback, XDMS allows me to run the Taiko router with no live internet connection, and every single time, XDMS beats Roon for my scenario. Not even close...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Glad the batteries are working out. I do not listen with the charger running. I unplug it from the wall and battery end. I find the SMPS of the charger to be noisy.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Here is the battery. Volessence 50000mAh Laptop Power... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RNZZXRM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Nenon had a chance to listen to this battery as well and came away impressed, especially for the price. One of these batteries powers the dcd which can power both the...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I totally agree, Emile, that what the router does is something I cannot do without anymore. That “you are there” experience is like nothing I’ve heard before from my system.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I got a chance to borrow’s Nenon’s Taiko router (TR) for a few days and was able to do several A-B comparisons against a Ubiquity router it replaced. This was done on my headphone system that’s powered completely off the grid with a Stromtank. The sessions were done with local files only on...

What is the recommended voltage for switch/router/distributor? 12v?

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I am currently using this battery from Amazon to power the Taiko switch as a temporary solution until the Taiko BPS comes out. Works well, better than the supplied SMPS at my place in downtown Chicago with crappy power. Has a DC output I set to 12V. You can also charge and use at the same...

Hello Taiko, any update on when the black switches will be shipping out?

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

@CKKeung, I’m wondering if the taiko router will make dual switches redundant, or possibly the BPS for the switch/router. Dual switches is something I also want to try at some point, but not till the full Taiko network infrastructure is in place.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Is it too late to request that the analog RCA outputs be spaced appropriately apart in order to use our crazy audiophile cables/connectors? Another request to have the RCAs stick out further so when this card gets installed in the Extreme, the RCA’s won’t sit too deep inside the “grooves” in...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

@Taiko, is the ground screw on the switch considered to be a chassis ground or signal ground? @Zeotrope, are you able to use the Shunyata signal hub with either signal or chassis ground?

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Hello Emile, with the network card, switch, and router (using the supplied wall warts instead of the BPS), how far off is the difference now between streaming and local playback? XDMS was the first time ever I actually enjoyed streaming, but it still can’t match local playback.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Emile, will the black color option for the switch match the Extreme’s matte black case? If you were to guess approximately how much more it might add to the price, that would help make decisions now. Promise not to hold you to it if it’s more. : )
