Thanks for chiming in sir.
Agree on the Essence transparency, details, tight bass, neutrality and quiet revealing actually.
I'm looking forward to listening the Antileon Evo soon.
Im hoping the Antileon will be smoother, fuller and not as bright as the Essence (this more to do with the essence...
Thanks for this info...
I think I can believe the Tube pre + Essence stereo combo.
However having heard the Essence pre & power = quiet impressive as well, however on some recordings it can sound a "tad" bright but still very much listenable.
Whats your take on the Essence Pre + ANTIleon Evo...
Thanks for the clarification.
My concern though, do you guys feel the Antileon EVO is an upgrade over the Essence Stereo Or its a sideway move ?
I have heard the Essence a few times and its quiet good. But my curiosity takes the better of me and ask if the bigger brother would bring me more to...
Hi LL21,
Thanks for chiming in.
On your last sentence:
So if I want a tube sound, the EVO would not give me that ?
The Gryphon Mephisto is a bit out of my range & I heard its quiet revealing.
The Essence is more like it but I wonder if the ANTIleon EVO is an upgrade over it.
Yes, I hear it...
Would you say the eVO would sound like a tube amp but better ? tube amp like a VAC or VTL ?
I have heard the SONUS Faber with Mcintosh tube Amp and VAC. Its sounds very good.
Hoping the Antileon would have character of tube amp esp on the top end and midrange but the guts and balls of a good...
Thanks!
How would the EVO match with warmish speakers in the likes of the Sonus Fabers, the British speakers like Spendors, Harbeths ? Wouldn't it be too dark, lacking in details when paired w. such warmish speakers ?
Hi guys
Would you guys know if the Antileon Evos are an upgrade from the newer design Essence ?
Pre-amp would be the one of the Essence.
Thanks for the inputs
thanks ! have you tried pairing or auditioning the essence pre-amp w/ the essence power amp ?
I think with the Vac pre-amp, a solid state dac would probably be more preferable ??

Just got my GA TRP2.
I have roughly 6 hours in there... So far enjoying it a lot.
Very musical indeed!
Ill give it a few weeks running in and will report back after things are settled. etc.
I have a berkeley dac reference and I use a pre-amp with it..The max volume it goes is 60 db and I always leave it at 56 or 57 db.. At max levels it becomes brighter sounding.
I run my gears 5 hours everyday 6 days a week... I only turn it on once and turn it off once.. knock on wood, no issues..
there are times I turn it on and off 2-3x especially when swapping speaker cables, XLR, etc.. again, no issues..
Not sure if SOTM SMS200, Lumin U1 and Aurender N10 is windows based or Linux base.
Im just hoping its just a plug and play with no software installation just like my current dacs.
Very good amps.. tight iron fisted grip on the bass.. clean sound, dynamics... not much to complain.. however, it can be slightly dry sounding hence I prefer matting the Boulder power amp with a tube pre-amp. Or something tube in the chain. Hope that helps.
On another note; I noticed that when you order one of these DACS it will ask to specify what is your operation system (windows, Mac and Linux).
I use Mac but in most cases I use streamers from Lumin, Aurender and SOTM so will these three devices be plug and play or a software has to be...
Very much looking forward to it... Took me a month to decide back & forth between the Atlantic TRP, GA TRP, BIG 7MK2 , GG2.
This will be my 1st Lampi...
After doing research and talking to several nice fellows ( and a big thank you to you folks and thanks for your super patience) in this forum...
Makes a lot sense sir.. My current dac has also volume control but I dont run it direct to a power amp. I use a pre-amp.
I don't set it max volume but around 80%- seems ok.
Ill try playing with it if it makes some tonal shift in balance.. thanks!
Thank you sir.. That is what I thought, no volume control would have that option, otherwise seems redundant ?
what is the benefit of having a volume control even not going direct to amp ?
although I'm ordering my unit with volume control as I need to run it straight to a power amp.
Quick question for GA TRP owners:
a.) does all of them come with the hi and low gain switch @ the back of the unit ? or is it only available for the unit without the volume control ?
Thanks!
