I’m a swede born not far from Copenhagen moving to Norway a long time ago actually
They are (obviously) not in the same arm, Elite in linear tracker Odin and DaVa in FR64s, but the both go in to the same phono, the Lampi MC2 silver, using the same internal stepups (and the rest of the...
I had great results when changing the original feet on my Modi to Galder feet. I was not prepared for the improvement that would make. At first, everything sounded, or appeared, a tad more bright (not something I enjoy) but I quickly realized that it was not brightness I heard, but lack of...
Been playing with my DaVa for 2 straight days now. Just rounded 40 hours on it and it keeps getting better in terms of being fuller and more organic. The details and dynamics has been there all the time. I am really happy with it.
A few interesting things happened. I have been struggling since...
Sorry for interupting your discution gents, but the “smoother sound” intrigues me. Is there any particular dc-blocker you would recommend Atmasphere, or would any one do?
Hi Ron,
Oslo Hifi Show is running as we speek. Look who was present signing records yesterday. (No, did not take any pictures)
I also ran into Bent Holter of Hegel and we started talking about you becoming a home dealer of Hegel Music Systems. He actually had no idea since, as he said, he...
I have an unused output on my PSU, but not for long. I am happy to announce that a DaVa mono has been ordered with an ETA of latest october and best case this summer. Decided I did not need nor want 3 sterero carts in my 3 arms.
Congratulations Ron!
My sister in law here in Oslo is an old friend of Bent Holter of Hegel. Will make sure he knows his products are in excellent hands.
Thank you for the thorough description Peter. Very interesting to read. I’m still under break in and have only played 25 LP sides on my Elite and, as I wrote, it’s mounted in a new arm for me so I can’t draw any conclusions just yet, but appreciating the thoughts and experience from someone with...
Good morning Peter,
If I remember correctly, you also had your Grand Cru upgraded to the Elite? Do you feel yours is leaner now as an Elite than when it was a Grand Cru? The reason I'm asking is that with some more hours on my Elite (also upgraded from Grand Cru to Elite) I kind of feel it has...
Yes, this is my experience too. I have had a few Colibris in my house, from the standard Colibri>Stradivarius>Grand Cru>Elite and (besides the Elite, which I haven’t tried yet) they all sounded best that way in my setup. My G.C had a very shallow cantilever angle so I wasn’t able to fully push...
Detailed, rich, balanced and smooth with deep bass and delicate highs. Then the rest of the family made me join them on some cross-country skiing.
Received my Grand Cru Elite a few weeks ago. Upgraded from standard G.C to Elite as it was sent to VdH for the 300 hour service. Today I got it mounted in my Bergmann Odin arm. Excited to hear how it performs in the linear tracking Odin.
Pulled my self together today and attached the AN Kaisei between PSU and Dava. 2x21,5 awg shielded Cardas between PSU and Kaisei and the original thin silver one from Kaisei to cart.
Received notification today that my GC is finished and is now upgraded to the Elite. The 300 hour service plus some cleaning has also been done. Cant wait to have Fedex at my front door.
Waiting for my copy from JPC. I ordered it the day before reports about sub standard copies where posted here. Fingers crossed but must say concerns starts to grow. Will report back when it arrives.
My DaVa has gotten some more hours on it and what an amazing sounding cart this is. Dynamics and attack, great three dimensionality and a bass fundament close to what I often hear on tape from my Studer, yet balanced and linear. Could not be more happy with my newest cart purchase.
Next up is...
Magnesium headshell to be fitted with the DaVa arrived yesterday. 14 grams as from Darius recommendations with the FR64s arm. Just need to make sure I have short enough screws. Not longer than 4-4,5 mm or they will penetrate the coils.
