Is SACD playback or ripping bit perfect?

Interesting, .. what about the commercial online shops selling DSD titles? I thought they are using quite the same 'technology'

    StormAudio & Dirac Live

Thanks, nice to hear :) .. if you have a newer beta (I have 1.2.0.8256), and if it fixes some stability issues in VST3 in particular, I will be willing to try anyway, or you say, it will be rewritten as well?

    StormAudio & Dirac Live

It is a pity Flavio you did not post this information on your website or facebook, I visited Munich this year :-( What about promised upgrade to Live suite and bug fixes? :)

Jcat launches the new, 'Femto' USB card

I read this.. But also so the same clock is going to TCXO 10/100 Audio Grade Ethernet Switch, which "minimizes jitter & provides excellent sound quality". What is this femto clock for? This is not an audio device

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

I set the default device to DAP and output device to KS away from ASIO and distortion gone. Now I am after a second problem - cannot load a filter. I re-measured again, saved everything without any error

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

Does it work on Windows 10 64-bit? I read here www.dirac.com/system-requirements-technical-specifications Windows 10 is not listed :-(

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

Understood. But the sound is same also when I set filters to off.

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

That might be the direction: but I thought this is done automatically, what do I need to check (and where?) Appreciate your help (as Dirac still did not respond) Thanks!

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

Guys, do you have maybe Dirac's phone number? I could not find anything on their website, neither on the LinkedIn page :-(

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

Yes, I've checked and played with the attenuation last week, it is -8db, however the filters are OFF anyway, so Dirac should not do any processing, but rather passthrough It is ASIO, checked also with WASAPI.. No much difference.. ASIO was OK when measuring, though The sound is not just...

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

I am confused, what can I do? Dirac did not respond so far to my inquery. EMM is USB Audio 2.0 device, never had any issue with either foobar or Jriver

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

Yes, of course it works perfectly direct from Jriver. It is not a driver issue, but related ro Dirac. Moreover, Dirac managed to generate sweep tones. I have read on computer audiophile that there is a VST module (like FabFilter), but I don't know where to get it

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

Yes JRiver -> Dirac -> Meitner sounds distorted, even with filters off

Dirac with JRiver and EMM DAC

Hello I am evaluating Dirac package, opened a ticket with their support, but it is somewhat slow.. Setup: Windows 10, running JRiver 21 output going to EMM XDS1 via USB (ASIO) With UMIK-1 created filter, saved it and also the project. Then set the output device to WASAPI-based Dirac...

    New PS Audio Directstream DAC

The DAC may sound good, yet the statement that converting (and there are multiple (!!) conversions along the process) PCM to DSDx10 will unmask hidden information from PCM.. is.. Actually, I never liked the high-rez material on EMM and Playback, the last one being a bit better The sound was...

    New PS Audio Directstream DAC

http://www.psaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/PS-Audio-DirectStream.pdf and I would say that Bruce is right If somebody wants to squeeze the last bit from the PCM recordings (which are 99% of the music there), I would vote for TotalDAC approach --Michael

Amarra Symphony with Dirac Live Impulse Response Correction

I am curious why you guys EQ to straight line while our ears are anything else but a linear device! Moreover, the hearing of 20 years old is different from 45 years old and from 60 years old. I eq only bass area < 120Hz, all the rest is done with the passive treatment and speakers placement -...

Apodizing filters - a fad that has passed or standard these days? "Revolutionary"?

Obviously it makes a change to the sound, but the end result depends on DAC. I think my current DAC (Metronome C6) has a linear filter and it sounds much better than SlimDevices Transporter I had before. As Bruce said, the apodizing filter may/has benefits on redbook, for high-rez I used linear

Just scanned HD Tracks. Where are the new releases?

Moreover, mastering out a PCM/DXD to release then on SACD, rip again and convert into 88/24 or 176/24 PCM is ridiculous. And then to argue what is better DSD or PCM :) PCM shall go straight from the original masters.. With HDTracks it is not a common case..

    Three New DSD-Capable DACs

I've listened to Playback and EMM top units, to EMM quite in extent. Both upsample/process PCM to DSD128, and while the result sounds good, it does not give the last drop of juice out of the best 192/24 (e.g. when comparing to my Metronome for example); moreover, both redbook and high-rez PCM...

    Three New DSD-Capable DACs

Weiss supports now DSD in their DAC and streamer. Yet, I referred to his experience in the Pro area (well, Bruce may challenge that :) ) The fact is that DSD dac might be excellent with DSD, but less so with PCM (given my expierence).. which is is 99% of what we have today. Moreover, the...

    Three New DSD-Capable DACs

You're the victim of the ... that audiostream feeds the readers. Majority of the recordings are originated in PCM today (including vinyl), DSD has nothing to offer. If you need best of the best, go with the best PCM DAC you can afford...

Sony, Universal and Warner to offer High-res download

Yes. The question is if the files are indeed worth that and the rest of the audio system can benefit from the extra information.

Any Metronome C5 or C8 Reference owners here?

Hi My transport is a PC, I can give full spec here if you're interested. For comparison to AES/EBU input, I used SlimDevices Transporter

Any Metronome C5 or C8 Reference owners here?

Well I can share now something about the C6 :) The beauty excels in high-resolution. I had Weiss 202.. Compared to the modded Transporter I had for few years until now, and Weiss and Transporter were quite close. So I couldn't justify the upgrade. But Metronome took the high-res to completely...

Core Audio Technology's Kora MKIII Power Supply

Hi I recently bought a linear power supply for my music server. [ The music server is close in specs to Computer Audiophile's Zuma (a bit more updated) ] I bought two pieces, one went to my friend, who has same music server, but with Firewire card, and I have SOtM tX-USBexp. So far, my...
