How funny, what a coincidence! I semi-retired at the age of 40 on 4/1/2013! I have since started a Master in Business Administration and an audio company... I guess I'm not really semi-retired like I thought, but I don't regret it for one second. =)
Dave is a gentleman of the first order and his products are top notch. If any of you buy his products and choose the personal delivery, you'll be happy to meet him in person.
Ulises.
Gary,
Congratulations on all the new projects and new products - are these the same I heard at the Genesis offices in Seattle? If they are, people attending CES are on for a great treat, they sound amazing! I won't be at CES, but hopefully I'll see you at one of other shows of 2014, while I...
A few years ago I got a set of platinum plated pens as a corporate gift. To my surprise, they were Waterford, the same company that makes expensive hand-made cut Crystal, like champagne glasses, whiskey decanters, and the crystal ball they lower every year in New York for New Year's. They're...
Check out the Raven Audio room, the owner and personal friend of mine, Dave Thomson, always brings a truck load of vacuum tube amplifiers and pre amplifiers ranging from $1,500 to $30,000 and they sound and look awesome! Http://www.ravenaudio.com
Hi Gary,
Thanks for the advice, let me ask you another question: would this happen even if I'm not pushing the amplifier? I notice this issue even if I'm listening at low levels (not louder than a normal conversation)
I'll connect them to a more powerful tube amp, to see if that's the...
Hi Gary,
Thanks for your super fast response!! Well, after you told me that it was unlikely that the crossovers were the culprit, I went back and started playing with it again. Since I was trying to get more treble, I had turned the rear tweeter control all the way clock-wise, based on what I...
Genesis 350SE crossovers
Hi Gary,
I have a set of Genesis 350SE built possibly around the year 2000. I've noticed that the high frequencies are not as bright as they used to be. All 15 tweeters work and I've played with the two knobs on the back but still nothing. Do you think it could be...
I think it depends on which stage of our lives we are currently on. If you're within 10 years of retirement, saving for retirement should be one of the first priorities, if you just finished college and just got married, then it doesn't have to be your top priority.
Me personally, I've...
By the way, since the cable was loose, some times it sounded great and some times it didn't, so if when you heard it you liked it, it was probably sounding good at that time. In any case I think it's going to sound much better today with the CD Player.
I wasn't there on Friday, so I wouldn't know for sure, but as far as I know they didn't connect/disconnect that cable since Thursday, so it's possible that it was lose since then.
Insider's knowledge: the Raven Audio - Von Schweikert system had a loose cable between the music server and the DAC (both belong to a third party, not Raven or VS). The problem was fixed Saturday afternoon. Tomorrow they'll use a $30,000 CD Player instead of or in addition to the music...
I don't know about that move, I'm sure they know more than I do, but it would make more sense to me to "merge" Emotiva Pro into Sherbourn (keep Sherbourn and get rid of emotiva pro). I would think Emotiva bought Sherbourn for the brand, but now they're killing it?
That makes sense. I guess this changes my first impression about the people running that company from "total idiots, what were they thinking? " to "they're clever, or at least bold"... I still think I'd have a hard time buying something with that name.
Looks like an American company, when they came up with the name of the company, did they realize they might sell to the English-speaking community? Can you imagine: "Hi guys! I just bought an awesome piece of Schiit equipment, can't wait to immerse myself in it! " LOL!
Great information, Gary, thank you! !! Another question; do both woofer cable and servo signal cable need to be of the same length? If not, which one is the one that should be very long to avoid oscillation?
I also noticed that both servo signal cables in the 350se are soldered to a single...
Thanks Ca1ore and Gary for your replies! Gary, I would never ask this to another manufacturer of high end audio equipment, but you seem like a very cool guy who genuinely cares about his customers and audio fans in general: I can't spent $3,500 in cables, is there any advice you can give me to...
Hi gents,
I've personally listened to the Amazing Line Source speakers in the proper environment -Bob Carver's listening room. Before making the trip to the Seattle area where he lives, I extensibility listened to some excellent speakers at my friends' homes: Sanus Faber, Focal, big Ushers...
