Dear Sir,
Can you describe what other modifications you made to your K1?
Also can you advise how to access internals of K1?
Look forward to hearing from you,
Cheers,
Chris
I have broad musical interest.
With nearly 3,000 discs ranging from early music to Beethoven’s late string quartets, from Mahler to contemporary classical, jazz, folk, country and world music from across the globe and just about everything in between. About only music I do not own or ever...
Well our preamps are more similar than you might think but yes I suppose everything else is quite a contrast.
My minimalist SET amps driving high efficiency field-coil speakers is more like a c1928 system... I love the sound its so visceral and vividly present. It is a huge contrast even from...
Add a high quality Master Clock like Esoteric G-0Rb : )
This is imperative to maximise this combination's performance...BUT as I mentioned even with the three boxes the P-03/D-03/G-0s was destroyed by Grandioso K1 on its own.
No volume control on D-03 DAC the remote is generic Esoteric and has...
Sorry I am not sure what other DACs now utilise the same DAC chips used in the Grandioso K1– but of course the chip itself is but a small part of the entire performance puzzle, a critical part yes but how the DAC chip is implemented is undoubtedly the key to ultimate performance.
The K1 clearly surpassed performance of P-03/D-03/G-0s in every single aspect that could be described.
In my experience there was nothing about its performance that was not eclipsed by the K1.
I know people that have owned P-02/D-02 and some having upgraded from P-03/D-03 but sorry I have no direct experience comparing these with Grandioso K1.
However, I can report in a good friend's active 5-way system, the Grandioso K1 alone outperformed (and replaced) a full 5 box P-01/D-01/G-0Rb...
It looks like maybe my advice has come too late?
As good as the P-03/D-03 are, if I were you I would leapfrog the P-03/D-03 and go for the single box Esoteric Grandioso K1 SACD :
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/303522659166
I owned P-03/D-03 with G-0s Master Clock for many years in a very highly...
I have been using new production Elrog ER845 tubes for last 18 months in my Absolare Altius 845SET monoblocks and they have proven to be very reliable with no issues whatsoever after the redesign and these tubes with inverted plate structure sound even better than previous designs.
Highly...
Cheers Mark,
Yes there is a S/H 'Premium' Cybershaft OCXO available now in Australia that I am keen on and will use with a Shunyata Sigma Clock-50 but its not at the top of the Cybershaft range – although I expect will still likely outperform my G-0s?
Yes I gathered zero new Cybershaft stock...
Many thanks for your considered and comprehensive reply SCAudiophile – your advice is very much appreciated and mirrors my instincts especially regarding 50ohm v 75-ohm transmission.
The G1 is certainly at the top of my list but as all reading this will appreciate, is a much more expensive...
Dear SCAudiophile,
I am using Esoteric Grandioso K1 with my old G-0s rubidium clock leftover from when I used P-03U/D-03.
Now considering changing clocks to 10MHz / 50 Ohm Cybershaft Premium with 50 Ohm clocking cable.
Given your comprehensive experience would you consider this would...
Dear Whatmore,
I did not mean to sound dismissive of your valid question but are you implying I have neither imagination or an open mind?
Do you disagree with what I said?
Of course it is not 'difficult', but can you help me understand how anyone else's speculation about what may or may...
With all due respect, perhaps what you are seeking is not something that anyone CAN reliably predict or anticipate but only something that can be known or understood once it has actually been experienced? I have been putting systems together for over 35 years and used a vast range of equipment...
Has anyone ever upgraded fuses in their P-03/D-03/G-0s units?
I have recently done so in my Absolare preamp and power amps with significant audible improvements.
Any tips on how many fuses and values much appreciated.
Cheers
Chris
