hey wes,
sorry but i havent tried that system. looks ok, though limitted to low freq, and kal's (et al.) sample measurements didnt compare well to what i see multeqxt32 do.

hey gary, his other test involved moving one ribbon tweeter rel to another in a dead room, results implying similar hi res hearing abilities beyond the 20 khz limit. love to test that, but lack such room.
you cold attempt his setup with audacity at 2496 sines at specified phase and using abx...
thanks Amir,
which AES paper are you referring to?
which audyssey version is used?
how was the spectral response measured? psychoacoustically, as in etf5 implementation? this namely takes our temporal integration of sound into account, thus incl reverb. to me if that measures flat, it...

digi i/o also exists.
unless i hear negatively, i'll order and report back.
the peq goes down to 10 hz they claim...see if this is true.

hey amir, bizar audyssey result. i validate drc and xt32 is FLAT. the test uses a spurious audyssey result i suspect.
i use omnimic and etf btw. what drc are you using now? arcos?

deqx mixed bag...
hey guys, i own the express too. works well for me even though i find the process confusing here and there. harware has been a major problem for deqx. the xpress uses dac coupling caps that hipass aroundv30 hz. i replaced mine w bigger film caps. now it measures flat from mic...
Hey Ed,
I left at 24, and also put my ESS speakers out of my windows on a canal some summer day...that wasnt appreciated much. WHat';s not to like about The Doors?
:D
Amir,
thanks so much for the history of WBF. QUite some turbulence!
Glad to see WBF remains mostly free of it.
WOuldnt it be nice to make that available as a sticky somehwere?
Thanks again!
J
Perhaps it was 8 and 24kHZ -- I forget,been a while.
In addition, just playing with different settings we never got any detection with 3rd harmonic beyond ~20kHz at ~60-80dB and various phase angles rel to ground tone...oh well.

Being open to and excited by the notion of hearing >20kHz I tried to replicate one of Kunchur's studies.
I used a professional psychoacoustic setup (Tucker Davis, Matlab, Stax) in a soundbooth (33dB SPL noise) and presented blind, randomized the same two-tone stimuli as Kunchur did.
That is...
Thank you John! You mention Haarlem, I was born and raised there! It is a very nice place. If you like good food -wow! Try "Truffels". I guess you might still be into soccer "voetbal"? I always watch the Euro and world cup.
USA has gotten so much more involved, thats great too. WHat about...
Another thing to note is that Omnimic doesnt have much use for room/sub eq. I use REW for that (but thanks to this thread am going to try XTZ too, I find myself reaching for Omnimic 90% of the time b/c it is sooo easy to do!!! I have ETF, SampleChampion, etc, but setitng up preamp, mic, output...
Well, what is very useful is the "averaging" function, which once evoked remains as a static different colored trace.
So comparison on the fly is actuallly super easy in Omnimic V2.
Many thanks John!
Your last name hints at a Dutch heritage?
I went into manufacturing mostly b/c it allows me to fill an audio niche at highly competitive price-points, i.e. making hi-end available for those not into DIY and who don't want to spend hi-end crazy prices.
In turn, this supports...
Hi there from another ribbon enthousiast (if fact..I wrote the book "Ribbon Loudspeakers").
I fully agree with your notion that the "ribbon" term should generally be used to exclusively refer to an aluminum strip-like conductor suspended at 2 ends with very low resonance frequency.
Yet...
Thanks Steve for the heads up! I just posted some words about myself in the member section.
Kal and I live seemingly parallel lives! Neuro and "surround sound" (such a misnomer) and New England based, what are the odds?
I think he's working the new Marantz 11.2 processor (av8801), curious to...
Hi guys,
I literally just stumbled upon the WBF and I cannot for the life of me understand why it has taken so long!
I love the layout, setup, etc. Thank you Amirm and Steve for managing it.
Anyway, I am originally from The Netherlands and came to the USA in 1996.
I am a neuroscientist...
Hey FrantzM and treitz3,
thanks for the nice welcome! Appreciated!
The subs are sealed (most predictable, controlled excursion, cleanest impulse resp).
I figure people probably have their own favorite for amplification and EQ so why should I force it upon them...it further makes my life...
Hey guys, my first post here! Nice place, greet threads, just ran into it today for the first time...jeez!
I agree IB is a highly desirable for reasons stated, but few have the luxury to implement it.
Nonetheless, sealed can work if you make them big.
My own subs consist of four cross-bolted...
