I concur with the positive impact of the separate power supply to the server. Highly recommend.
I opened the new power supply to the cubox. It is very simple inside. A transformer and an IC. I am wondering if those high end third party linear PS will improve it further? Unfortunately it's...
Hi, I am still not clear what is the update/tweak to your d1-server? Is it external to d1-server and internal? Are you saying that new d1-server comes with it?
I am using a d1-server (bought ~2 years ago) with d1-six. Will like to know more about the update. Thanks.
Anyone using SSF-50 on your Triton/Typhon? What are the improvements do you observe? How about SSF-38 on Triton/Typhon?
I undersand SSF-38 is designed for the smaller power distributors. However my Triton V2 and Typhon are on my rack with very tight space. No way to use SSF-50. SSF-38 can...
Those Black fuse users on the audiogon forum claimed >70 (some said 100) hours needed for Black burn-in. My SR Red fuses needed more than 50 hours to sound good. So you will propably need longer time before you can assess them (not saying that they will definitely be good on your system).
If you PM me your email address, I can send you the update/upgrade price list from Ars Sonum.
Since you are from NA, you may want to contact Rich Brkich from Signature Sound (richb@sigsound.com). He handles the update/upgrade for Ars Sonum US customers (not sure if it covers NA). You only need...
The latest version is SJ. My amp was also SE prior to the upgrade. The optional VCap (TFTF) cap is not part of SJ.
You can drop a mail to the builder Ricardo (ars-sonum@ars-sonum.com) for more info. Very friendly guy. Where do you based in? US? I am from Asia.
I am still using this amp driving the VSM speaker. The interconnect and speaker cables are Cardas Clear.
My amp was recently updated to the latest version by the builder, plus the optional VCap capacitor. The SQ improvement is huge. Worth considering if yours is not upgraded.
Hi Grant. Good to see more info for the new Denali series. The part on the HC outlets for amp or components require high current is obvious. I am still not clear about the use for source and line components. There is no Typhon technology there. So it it still desire to connect a Typhon to one of...
Hi, after posting this, I learn from another forum that I need to read the acid etched codes for the info. Unfortunate the acid etched code on one tube is so faded and not readable (I didn't notice it at first) and I couldn't see it at all on the other tube.
Thx.
Hi,
I bought a pair of Siemens E83CC many years back (I actually forget about it :p). I can see the triple-mica. The words on one tube is faded but the other one can be read. How do I interpret the code 34300? Which year was this made and where?
Thanks.
There is a new d1-six DAC:
http://www.totaldac.com/D1-six-en.htm
"The d1-six DAC is now the highest end one-box Totaldac DAC"
Appealingly upgrading already started. Have anyone listened to it? Anyone plan to do the upgrade to their one-box totaldac DAC?
I got the new cubox and changed it myself. I wonder what is the "small" change to the AES/EBS output and how significant is it? I am from Asia and may not be practical to send the d1-server to France for small change. Hmmm....
+1
The improvement with the Cubox upgrade is very significant. No brainer as it doesn't cost anything other than the shipping cost. ;-) Yes the new software is working fine.
Hi Vincent, so how can one get his d1-server upgraded to the new quad core cubic-i4? I have the d1-server and d1-dual and base in Asia (Singapore). Can the upgrade be done locally?
Thanks.
Last year when I bought my Triton, and subsequently the Typhon, I did what Caelin suggested for running into the PCs: plugged in a fan and run it for 1 full week, 24 hours a day. I did stop the fan when I sit down to listen to the music. I felt that it did speed up the process. May be this will...
I am using TotalDac D1 Server and D1 Dual DAC. Previously I was using Alpha Digital on the Server and Ztron Python on the DAC. I don't enjoy Alpha Digital on the DAC. Alpha Analog was also better but I prefer Python more. When Sigma PCs were introduced, I updated to Sigma Digital for the Server...
Hi Caelin, can you work out a scheme so that local dealer can perform the upgrade? That will be the best for users outside US. I just bought a Triton (and Typhon) early last year. Will like to be able to upgrade without selling it so early (and losing $) :(
Thanks.
Hi Caelin,
Thanks for the info. We have discussed about the upgrade strategy for the new Sigma PC on another forum. Your message has been consistent: start with the sources.
For the digital source, I have the TotalDAC combo: D1 Dual DAC and D1 Server. While waiting for the arrival of Sigma...
Thanks for sharing back. I am now using the Python umbilical temporary while waiting for my dealer to order the AHC. Will have to wait for a few weeks. My Typhon has plugged in for 6 days by now and I think it has settled quite a fair bit. I am really enjoying the sound now..... never know that...
Now I know what is the cable came with my Typhon. It's a Python. The light in my system room is not that bright and I couldn't read the grey word on darker grey background clearly. I thought it was "Typhon". I took a photo of it for sending it to my dealer. As I imported the photo to my...
So is this the one based on the AHC? I remember someone mentioned here that it is labelled as "Typhon AHC". Some mentioned that it come with a separate standard Shunyata PC white box. Mime is in the Typhon box. I guess I am confused by the date on the cert. It was manufactured back in July last...
Thanks Caelin. I have a question, in the Typhon box there is a cable included. It just has the "Typhon" label on the grey plug. There is no separate cable white box housing it. The quality certification card shows the sign-off date is 7/17/13 (same as the Typhon's card). What cable is this? This...
Finally decided to go ahead and bought the Typhon. Received today and just plugged it into my Triton. So the burning in process begin....
As I have learned from this forum, I have used the fan to burn-in my various Shunyata PC. I am wondering if the fan will also help the burning in of Typhon...
I remember reading Caelin or Grant saying that Typhon and the umbilical cord need longer time for burning-in as the current passing through them is low.... Can't stand the long process... :p
I have the Triton and various Zitron/Alpha PC in my system. Now trying a Typhon..... Well, guess don't...
Hi, may I know if you purchased the AHC umbilical cord separately or the cord is provided together with the Typhon? My local dealer told me that no cable is provide with Typhon.
Thanks.
Steve and tima, thanks for responding. Didn't know that there was a discussion on AHC/Anaconda on another section of this forum.
I am using the Python Helix PC on my Triton-to-wall now (is it 2-3 generation old? bought with my Hydra 8 then). Was planning to go for the new Z-Anaconda. The...
