I'm guessing your dealer doesn't carry the Soundsmith line of cartridges.
Personally I have a Paua on a Schick 12" tonearm mounted on a rebuilt Thorens TD-124. (I also have a Per Winfield on a VPI TNT) A lot of fine discriminating audio friends have heard the Paua and all seem impressed. A...
This probably belongs in the DIY thread but since it is about ultrasonic cleaning I thought I'd post it here. This DIY unit, for the cost of a VPI 16.5 or less, seems an alternative to the 10X more costly unit being discussed. I'm sure it doesn't do things as nicely, but I am going to try and...
Maybe you should let them in the room to listen with you. You already have the negatives to owning pets, might as well have the benefits of having some listening buddies! I know it improves the sound in my room when I have a dog or 2 curled up next to me.
No argument from me. One problem I had was cutting the spindle hole accurately. What I ended up doing was printing the protractor out on a piece of transparency film. Then I centered over the spindle hole in a light colored album (Grand Funk's gold one is cheap and available). I then taped...
I used the free one also for a number of years. Recently, I ordered one from Ken Wiliis and find that one even better. Slightly soft plastic, custom printed for multiple tonearms or geometries. Mine has arcs for my SME-V as well as my Trans-Fi linear arm. Around $75.00.

Here are a couple of graphs showing the results of moving the speakers a few inches. Done with REW software and a RS SPL meter.
Notice the difference in the peak at 40Hz and the null following.
I know I'm showing my ignorance here (as always) but what does SOTA stand for? A search returns a blizzard of threads using the term but no definition.
Direct from Trans-Fi, it is 750 British Pounds or just over $1,000 US where I am. Additional tonearms with the fine silver Litz wire are $200.00 US in the length I use. The air pump and surge tank are $40-50 US. It is sort of a contraption but sounds as polished as almost anything I've heard...
is anyone here running this arm? Terminator T-3 by Trans-Fi.
I got into a bit of something with Sparky earlier in another thread and for that I'm sorry, but this seems a wonderful arm for the money. Runs on less than 0.2 psi (I usually run as low as 0.16 psi) Easy as pie to set-up...

This is an example of the Vinyl Flat. The middle video was after 8 hours cook time and the final result is after a full 24 hours in the Vinyl Flat. The result's not perfect but plays easily. This is the only record I couldn't get...
