Well, some time has passed & the house rebuild is inching along. Likely, it will be ready by the end of this year. I am still fixated on the Vivid but likely will go for the G2 (if my wallet allows). I heard the G2 with top Nagra & was gobsmacked. However, I do not want to afford the Nagras. So...
shakti,
Thanks for the quick response. We have the same table and phono. I do have the DLC Glanz MH124 that has a Tiger Eye mounted at the moment. Have to think hard to spend this type of money on a cart :).
So, I may have have an opportunity to purchase a PP5000. I do like the PP2000 (mounted on a Groove master III I think) paired with the EA2000 a lot. However, my speakers are Focals which can be a little unforgiving with brigther source (but is on the mend to becoming more mellow by the year...
See, that's why I mentioned elsewhere that the Focal Utopia is easily misunderstood. When I took delivery of the Stellas, they sounded thin, bright and sibilance a plenty. Less than well recorded music sounded excruciating. I wanted to throw them away but could not afford to. Wanted to swap...
Wow this is news to me. However, the prices as shown are really not realistic.
I own a pair of Stellas but it took me years to get tame it. I really like it now but my next pair of speakers are unlikely to be Focals. Too much work and time to get them burned in. Time is a diminishing commodity...
LL21,
A bit of a story if you don't mind it being boring.
Before the Stella, I had the ProAc Carbon 8. Paired them with ARCs and Gryphon. Naim was never in consideration. My acquaintance, who also has the Carbon 8s, paired them with Naim 500 series amp. His set is the next town over. One fine...
Quite some time has passed. At this point in time, my take is that the Stella Utopia is a rather misunderstood pair of speakers. Most people who aren't owners or maybe even those who are but are prone to quick fire swaps will find them bright and shrill as I did for the first year of ownership...
The silicone feet upgrade costs a pretty penny but helped me reduce much of the motor noise transmitted through the rack platform. For some reason, the Phasemation PP2000 is very sensitive to this. Again, the mechinical nature of this playback device is very interesting.
For me, the turntable is a mechanical device. It definitely has a huge impact to the sound of the TT system. End of the day, it's about matching (quite the cliche I know). In the context of my system, I have 2 tables with similar arms & cartridge. FR64S + Koetsu Blue Azule on the Avid Acutus SP...
Well, I have had my ORB DF-01iA+ (improved model over the DF-01iA non + model) since November 2022. Since then, I have put through about 15-20 records. So far, it's 100% success rate for me. For more severely warped records, I put it through the cycle twice. I use the 4hr cycle on medium. There...
Anyone with insights to this new Master 3 vs Master 1 ? What is better ? Looking to smoother presentation compared to Master 1. Cart is a Grandmaster but sadly not extreme. Thanks
I have received the replacement unit. All good. Now focused on listening to more music but need to keep my wandering eyes on a leash. Warning to my eyes : Do not look up AF1P !
They are both very nice. I play either one depends on my whim. The Phasemation should be a bit better as I have a heavy bias towards Koetsu. Better than the Tiger Eye but the Tiger Eye has low hours because I kept going to either the Blue Lace or the Phasemation.
My dealer also quoted me a...
The S upgrade makes a huge difference in terms of vibration damping. As mentioned either in this thread or another that my Phasemation PP2000 was picking up vibration from the motor & translating to noise at the speakers. With the S feet installed, the noise was no longer audible. Very expensive...
Been holding my breath for the last few years due to tough business environment. I am looking for a music server to beat my Vivaldi transport. Fellow enthusiasts, seeking your advice.
I am looking for a record / LP flattener. Any recommendations ? Looking to flattern slightly warped records.
I have no experience in this regards. Bought a cheapish one but ended up destroyting the LP that I was trying to save partly due to my own impatience. So, need a 'press one button'...
Well, I am a little late to the party, no thanks to local customs who had my unit (outwards + in wards) for more than 3 weeks .
Zero hours break-in & on 0.6V output, Sibliance on poorer recordingings greatly reduced. This is one of the things high on my wish list due to the fact that the...
2 options presented itself all of a sudden. I have an opportunity to acquire a Glanz MH-124S premium for a nice price or I can acquire the newer model the MH1200 S for less than 1/2 the price of the premium. My impression is that the MH-124S premium is an iteration of the older Glanz models...
Before we let this get out of hand, My dealer & factory has always been very supportive and responsive. I am seeking advice from my fellow enthusiasts on your experience. No knocking on factory or dealer on my part if I was not clear prior.
Anyway, my dealer just informed me that the new power...
Gents,
Thanks for your insights. I think it is clear that the power supply / pump unit has deteriorated due the issue resulting from transportation. I am unaware that there are transport screws for the motor unit. Will have to have a look. Already adjusted such that the belt is more loose...
I took delivery of a new Techdas AF3P just before CNY. Noticed that the transport bolts were yanked from the power supply / pump unit upon receipt. Reported to my dealer and was told to try it anyway. I was surprised that the unit still worked and was total silent / no vibration on the touch...
