It Finally Happened: Not One, but TWO Heart Attacks

All the best on your recovery. Yours is a cautionary tail for all to listen to your body. If it’s ’not right’, stop and think and not be afraid to ask for help. I find my 60+ year old body telling me things but my 25 yr old brain won’t listen.

    Esoteric to Bricasti?

Here is my experience. I starting using my M21 via the Network input as a DAC/PRE and was very happy for a few years. Other Bricasti owners highly recommended I try the M20 which I did with Brian’s help. I was able to demo an M20 in my room. That showed no real changes to the sound. The...

Building a system around ROON for local/ripped/downloaded files and making it better than CD playback...

I can attest there is a clear difference, when using an Antipodes K50, between ROON server and player, ROOM server & Squeeze Player and Squeeze for all functions. What sounds best is personal but I have landed on ROON server & Squeeze player as my solution. It’s provides the meta data rich...

    Block Audio any experience ?

I just installed the Block Line and Mono SE amplification in my room. It is as good as I remember hearing at Suncoast. I am very pleased.

    Esoteric to Bricasti?

I am moving to a European brand Pre/Mono Block combo. I have heard them driving my speakers and never heard anything as good since. A deal came up and my nervosa kicked in. Time will tell if they will sound better than my M32s in my room but that is the hobby. I am a big fan of Bricasti...

FS: Bricasti M32 mono block amplifiers - NEW Price

Less than one year old pair of M32 monos. Brian Z made me an offer and I sent him my M28s last summer and he sent me back M32s. Larger transformer and related parts, brand new case. They are like new. Only selling to move to a set of Class A amps. These amps are flawless, neutral and...

Shameless plug. Wouldn’t your system look and sound even better with a pair of Bricasti M32s sitting aside that rack?

    Block Audio any experience ?

True dat. The low end was a bit ‘strong’ as the room was, or nearly was, square. I know all about that issue.

    Block Audio any experience ?

Suncoast Audio in Sarasota FL carries Block Audio. I have heard the Block Audio Amp / PreAmp combo driving Kharma DB11-S and it was sublime. The sound had more emotion than a SS Boulder 2160? amp we also listened to that day.

Grounding system Shunyata Altaira vs Synergistic Research vs Nordost

At the 2022 Florida Audio Expo Suncoast and Shunyata introduced the Altaira. The system sounded very good. On day 2, I asked if they would unplug all the grounding cables and remove the Altaira. Richard from Shunyata and ‘little’ Mike from Suncoast happily obliged. There were about 15 - 20...

Looking for a long-distance trip vehicle. Suggestions?

Have you read all the recommendations here to consider an EV? I am happy your EV works for you. No doubt it can serve an efficient purpose in certain circumstances. Just not sure it is in taking 700 mile drives. My buddy lives his for 98% of what he needs it for and he is willing to accept...

Looking for a long-distance trip vehicle. Suggestions?

The extra time to recharge an electric vehicle will lengthen your trip time to a VERY long day. A good friend of mine just drove his Tesla Model Y (?) from Baltimore to Hilton Head SC down I-95. It took him 13.5 hours with little traffic congestion. That’s a 10ish hour trip with stops on a...

Antipodes Audio - Updated Range and Upgrade Program - July 2023

I should have added earlier. The addition of the chassis ground lug was highly welcomed. I added a Shunyata Altaira to my system last year and was using one of the top chassis screws to ‘ground’ my K50. It made a noticeable difference. The new ground lug is simply easier to use. I have...

    Esoteric to Bricasti?

I write this only to try and complete the Bricasti portion of the question the OP asked and clarify portions of this thread. I cannot fully explain the technical nuances but the section of the manual copied above only tells part of the M21 story. The M21 has 3 DACs in it. The delivery method...

    Esoteric to Bricasti?

One of the M21 D to A circuits only processs native bitstream data. It happens automatically when the unit ‘sees’ a bitstream and moves to either the Sigma Delta or FPG D to A (depending on the users setting) when a PCM stream is detected.

    Esoteric to Bricasti?

I don’t think that is totally correct. My M21 will ‘see’ the DoP signal and route it to the DSD DAC. I have used an AES output from my Antipodes server into my M21 DAC. That signal is packaged as DOP and plays via my M21 at DSD64. But I am not going to quibble about it further as I can’t...

    Esoteric to Bricasti?

I believe accepting the I2S Bitstream is only allowed by law in specific cases where a manufacturer develops a proprietary connection between their transport and DAC. It is not supposed to work to another company’s DAC. That’s what PSAudio has done. Bricasti just recently introduced their...

What DACs are you using with your K50 ?

Didn't do side by side comparisons. I installed the WW a few days after the Tubulus went back to its owner. I can't really compare other than to say, they both sound great. Having said that, if I decide to stay with USB I will purchase the Tubulus Concentus USB cable. Just haven't made...

What DACs are you using with your K50 ?

I decided to try an old WW Platinum Starlight USB cable and test the new USB output. It is the equal of the AES/EBU output and now my DAC sees all native streams - which I like.

Antipodes Audio - Updated Range and Upgrade Program - July 2023

I have been living with the update Kala K50 for a few weeks. The upgrade has brought a more musical sound to my room. I call it ‘internal dynamics’. The colors the musicians make are more dynamic, more vibrant. My default setup has been to use ROON server and Squeeze player via AES/EBU...
