LL21,
Actually Bill has the best experience, what I heard was on a nice Magico system I believe M2 with very expencive Magico sub so only one in the middle of the M2. With subs you hear more room, more depth the loudness of the subs where at a level you nearly don't hear them, bass on speakers...
Hi Joey,
I recently listened to them with a friend. We were a bit disappointed with the performance. Could be because the Mac Intosh amplifiers are not my taste and because the speaker has not had many playing hours yet. The new Amati 5 sounded better.
Regards Ismaël
Hi Bill,
You are right I've heard it in a demo with and without sub and the difference was substantialy.
Do you use one or two subs? and where do you place them?
Other question
How big is the difference between il Cremonese and Aida. Unfortunatly I didn't hear them toghether Is it in the mids...
Hi Bill first congrats with your Aida's, that's an interesting upgrade. But why are you using Gravis 6 subwoofers? a few weeks ago I saw the il cremonese ex3ma it has 4 bas speakers didn't they diliver enough bass? Do you still use them with Aida's?
Is there a big difference between Cremonese...
Hi Kenny,
My first Spectral amp was a DMA150s2 about 15 years ago. At that time I used a Krell preamp and even didn't heard about Mit so I used my Siltech LS cable :) but lucky me nothing happend. about a year later I bought my first Spectral preamp DMC 30 SL then I heard about Mit and stories...
Hello Gene,
Thank you for your message and your warning about not using MIT cables. To be honest, I no longer believe those stories from dealers, I have not used MIT cables for 6 years and I am very happy about that because there are much better cables for sale for a fraction of the MIT prices...
Hi Chas,
The Aida 2 was powered with a complete McIntosh system and that certainly did not appeal to us. During our first listening session we played with our own CDs and we thought they sounded substandard. During our second listening session we listened to the new Stradivari and it did not...
Hi Calvin,
In the past I asked the same question at the dealer More Music here in Holland :)
Answer:
The switch is to connect or disconnect the grounding. Position 1 is disconnecting, position 2 is connecting.
It matters whether you play XLR or RCA. With XLR you have an extra ground point and...
Maybe nice to add my pictures I own SF Amati Futura a bigger model and a model before the mentioned Serafino's. I also had to use jumpers or double LS cables.
That is an interesting combination Chas. Next week my two audio friends and I have a appointment at https://audioexpertcastle.com/rooms/ this is a expierence center financed by SF group (must have a specific name) we are going to listen to the Aida II and Lilium maybee some more :) because one...
Hi Chas,
I live in The Netherlands so English is not my native language :) , here in Holland we use a lot Sonus Faber speakers. I play about 15 years with a spectral system. In my opinion Mit cables don't work good. You can read it in my threads I made about Mit cables. I don't use them for...
Nice review Spectral SV setup
The review is in Dutch so if you can't read is use translation option like google translate :)

Hi,
Just saw then new price(increase) list there will be a new SDR 4000. prices are going over the top here in the Netherlands.

Hi Knife,
Spectral website:
Here you can see the long list from old to newer amps.
My 260 had a 360 motherboard :)
A mono amp needs two powercords but can be nice. And when necessery it delivers more power, question is do you need that power?
If you don't need it I would go for a 280...
Hi Dan,
Yes I don't want MIT anymore in my system, I now use Triple C copper cables (Nanotec-system.jp) about 25 times cheaper and the sound is better and very important for me no booming bas anymore but rich bas and better controlled. Before I used MIT Oracle MA-X2 interlink and Oracle Matrix...
The 200S was introduced about 13 years ago and the 260 one year later. The 260 was about 50% higher priced.
Sound is good last year I improved from 260 to 300RS but you have to pay more then double. Yes the sound is much better.
Price of new products are crazy high here in Holland :(
Kind regards
Hi Bruswood,
I agree with you prices are sky high for Spectral and MIT. A friend of mine uses Pass Labs amps and these prices are not like Spectral. If you buy an US Spectral 4000 SDR cd player you have to change the voltage internaly by yourself it's a kind tricky! Good luck in finding a new...
Hi 1 RSW,
Recently I upgraded from 260S1 to 300RS and yes there is a big price difference also here in Holland. But the sound difference is also very big!
My advice would be if you can afford it buy a 300 RS or a 280 Spectral upgraded it recently maybe there are some dealers with a demo...
Yes I agree.
Price increase is too high! In 2012 about 9 years ago price was more normal now about 70-120% higher. Salary increas about 20% so Spectral is losing points of sale in Holland now deliverable at two High End audio shops.
I believe the same happens in the US when I read WBAF...
My latest change 260 to 300 RS no hum anymore! I believe the hum was caused by the transformer in the 260 the 300RS uses newer transformers better for the 230v 50 Hz environ here in the Netherlands. I use from the cupboard a special very good shielded Kemp cable direct connected to a 25 amp...
Hi Ack,
Have you any experience with playing floating (not using earth) on preamp and amp? How long do you play that way? Are you also using a special audio fuse in your cub board? I do 20 amp with a special earth pen for grouncing 0,8 ohm only in use for my audio.
More Music told me to do also...
I agree with you, since 2012 prices increased fast the 4000SL was 28500 and now the 4000SV 35900 euro
You could buy in 2012 a dma 200 for 9900 now a 250S3 for 18900 euro.
My friend has a Pass Labs I believe these prices are more or less stable?
