Audio Mirror Tubadour V / New and great sounding dac

Buddy has one burning in right now
I'd love to know if it's much better than the 5. He also released his top of the line-$22K unit. That would be my target. Looking for an end game option (turning 70 so literally LOL). If I get it I would pair it with the Total DAC transport. Aletrnative would be the Wadax Studio.

Sorry. Did not see this. Yes-sounds like a different DAC- cannot imgine going back.
Thanks again for the suggestion. We just upgraded to the Audio Mirror Wave Tube DAC
I may still try the carbide devices, but 20 hours in, this thing is spectacular.

That's what we just got. Upgraded from the V to the Wave Tube DAC. It's remarkable. Huge soundstage, airy, exceptional instrument separation, and every instrument is weighted distinctly from the others. Sounds obvious, but we had an audio friend over today, and he brought a Weiss Helios to compare. Happy to get into specifics, but after 4 songs my wife and I couldn't listen to the Weiss and switched back. My friend has an $80K Ideon DAC at home and he was repeatedly gushing over the Audio Mirror. It's a spectacular DAC, in my experience, and ours still has some time to fully break in. Happy upcoming birthday!

Love to know the rest of your system.

My VI arrived last Thurs. I have around 100 hours on it. Compared to the V, it is a not a huge difference, but it is definitely more refined sounding. A little more detail and clarity in its presentation, the highs a little smoother, wider sound stage while keeping its analog fatigue free sound. Vlad never disappoints with his new builds.
