Looking to get a pair of B&W 804 D2 speakers. I would like to drive them with a McIntosh MA 352 hybrid integrated amp. Is this a good choice and will it work?
The best advice anyone can give you is “get a personal demo.”
If you can’t, see if you can get a generous return policy before you commit to purchase.
FWIW, it would be a nice, easy to live with set up. We have a dealer nearby who stocks McIntosh and Bowers & Wilkins. If they had an NOS or preowned 804 D2 in stock, they would happily sell it with an MA352.
I would highly recommend making the time to audition these components. And agree with @Another Johnson that they would work well together. I have a friend in Golden Colorado that has the Bowers & Wilkins 801D speakers and the MA352 and it sounds lovely. But please do get a demo.
One thing to bear in mind is that changing the input valves can make a tremendous improvement. I have a Riviera hybrid integrated which also uses 12at7 and it became a complete beast when fitted with ecc40 instead. 30wpc really energises my 4500 cubic ft room despite the speakers being relatively hard to drive.
