Headphones would be more engaging if there was a way to sense the music with your body. I wonder how those rumble seats work.

Also, BACCH now has a software specifically for headphones that is supposed to expand the sound out of your head.

The time I tried a set-up with excitors bolted to the couch were awful. Complete disconnect the couch moved the air didn't. No tactile feeling or pressurization.

Back in the day I had the classic AKG K1000 which was the original concept of "ear speakers". Essentially drivers placed close to your ears but adjustable so they face you in the same way a pair of toed-in speakers would. There are a few modern takes on these now but K1000 was the original.

Anyway, myself and a lot of other users would run a good subwoofer to fill out the low end, as that was the one limitation on a design like that. It worked extremely well not only to enhance the bottom octaves but also give a sense of palpability to the playback. When dialed in properly it was seamless.

I don't remember why I moved on from that system, but now I miss it.
